5.0 out of 5 stars Plug 'N' Play, 25 Aug 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A simple solution, allowing you to use the existing wiring in your home, to stream broadband to all areas. No cable clutter, enhanced security over Wi-Fi streaming and no more wireless blackspots. Also these plugs are pass through so you don't lose the use of the socket. Be warned though they are quiet large. If sockets are low down on skirtings then these plugs may not fit, you need at least 6 inches clearance beneath them. Both plugs also have ethernet cables supplied ( about 3 foot in length ). Plugs are not intended for use in extension cables but an extension cable can be plugged into them. Set up is relatively simple, unfortunately the included software on mini disc loads onto PC easy enough but then will not run. This is also the case if you download it from the TP-Link site. It seems to be just for Windows XP ( service pack 2 ) so maybe if that is your OS then it will work. Plugs work fine without it but I had some problems getting my PC to accept the new LAN. So far no problems, plugs not getting over heated despite being on for some hours. They also go into an energy saving mode when the attached devices are switched off. But the plug is still live and anything plugged into it remains powered up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Astronomy masterclass, 1 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Too often people get interested in astronomy on the back of some excellent TV program or other, think Prof Brian Cox, only to lose interest. They seem to think everything is in glorious technicolor and will be absolutely huge. This is the book not only for them but for established astronomers as well. It takes you gently and clearly into an understanding of just what there is to see,how to navigate to the areas and a realistic description of what you will see. I would thoroughly recommend this to anybody thinking about taking up astronomy, get it even before you get a telescope. I have even turned off the computerized controls on my own telescope and gone back to basics with this book and had some great nights observing. This is not a book just for the library it's something you should take with you every time you go out. And on those oh so frequent UK cloudy nights, plan your next observing session and learn a bit more about the phenomena you will be seeing, without being blinded by science.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive alternative., 17 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
What's the best way to watch your HD movies? On an HD television of course. Simmples just connect Cannon EOS600D With the suppl---- OH hold on Cannon don't supply the HDMI cable. And at the price Canon want for this cable the fun goes out of you function. That's where this inexpensive alternative comes to the rescue.I had read that there may be an issue with the connection into the camera socket due to the connector fouling against the camera body. I have had no problems what so ever and other than cost this cable does exactly what the Canon cable does.

5.0 out of 5 stars Affordable protection, 17 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I took the advice of the experts and ordered a filter for my new camera lens. Whilst the improvements to photographic quality are negligible there is certainly no noticeable deterioration in images. Where this particular type of filter scores points is in the protection it offers. As the experts state. "Would you rather spend out on a new lens or a new filter". By fitting this filter your expensive lens won't be getting scratched. This is not the cheapest filter but it is a quality branded product and as I've said it does not detract in any way the image quality. These same Hoya filters are available elsewhere but at a higher price than Snapshots UK is selling. Overall a sensible addition to any camera bag. Delivery was excellent arriving 2 days earlier than estimated. As I get more into this hobby and require further filters I shall certainly check back to this supplier, 5 stars for product and service.

Lowepro Nova 180 AW Shoulder Bag - Black
Lowepro Nova 180 AW Shoulder Bag - Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Product, 10 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have now read on a forum about accessories for EOS600D camera that a bag should be one of the last things to buy. I whole heartedlly agree due to my initial Lowepro Nova 160 purchase very quickly being overwhelmed with my gear. A fantastic product none the less so my choice was to upgrade to the next size, this the 180. There is a quality feel to these products ( the shoulder strap clips and rings are metal not plastic ) and the useful and well thought out pockets, moveable velcro attachment dividers, straps and protective padding are excellent. I feel that my expensive camera and accessories are well protected. Then you get to the really clever bit. There is a further weather proof outer sleeve that unfurls from under the front pocket, this completely encases the bag and also still allows easy access. So in summary, make sure your bag is going to be big enough and it's a Lowepro and you won't be disappointed.
Thanks also to Amazon for making the exchange process nice and easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indespensible Guide, 5 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I recommended this book in my review of the EOS600D as I have found it very useful. It allows you to get the best from your camera, from the most basic of automatic settings to the complexities of full manual. Set out in an understandable but detailed style, as a newcomer to DSLR and photography it has enabled me to appreciate there is a lot more to do than point and shoot. At the end of each chapter are assignments that allow you to put the theory into practice. Dedicated as it is to the EOS600D ( Rebel T3i is the name it sells under in the USA ) the skills the author explains for taking photographs in a variety of styles and situations will transfer to any camera. The book does make reference to the cameras instruction manual but it is far more than just an extension to it. I have found that by printing off chapter 15 the quick reference guide and the Function Availability Table According to Shooting Modes pages of the manual they along with this book will be all I need to hopefully produce some quality images.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping Stuff, 5 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
About the only negative words I have read regarding the Canon EOS600D are that it feels a bit lightweight/flimsy. This superb addition address's this problem. The camera feels a lot sturdier without being bulky. With 2 replacement compatible batteries included and a wired remote control this package only costs about the same as just 2 Canon batteries alone. You also get the ability to use regular batteries as an emergency back up. I don't know how good the compatible batteries perform yet but unless you are thinking about re shooting war and peace on full HD or becoming a member of the paparazzi, I think you should be fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Photographs not pictures, 4 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had been researching for a good camera and had settled on a Sony compact HX9V,then the EOS600D came up on lightning deals. Even at the full price this camera with the 18-55 lens kit is the real deal. Canon also offer a £50 cashback until the end of January. With the EOS600D you can take pictures in the basic mode settings that will be as good as, if not better than, any compact but get into the creative modes and you can take photographs. If you only want to take pictures go for a good compact because the EOS600D is a great photography tool and to not use it as such would be a waste.
The amount of settings and abilities this camera has is truly stunning, you have the option of RAW format as well as JPEG but with 18 Mega Pixels compression should not be a problem with image quality.
I'm a newbie to DSLR photography but with a camera this complex the controls are very understandable. What I would recommend is if like me you are new to this technology is get a good book. I've got ( on Amazon ) "Canon EOS Rebel T3i/600D From Snapshots to Great Shots" by Jeff Revell.I see that the "for dummies" series also do a book. Also be prepared to spend some £££ on things like spare batteries ( although so far I've found battery life to be great ) lens' and filters. Whilst these are not cheap this is a quality product and you wouldn't buy a ferrari and fit pram wheels to save a few quid.
Once I have used and learnt my way around this camera I will using it with my telescope for astro imaging, something I couldn't have done with a compact. All the reviews I read on this camera were positive and I can only echo those views this is a very good camera. Oh and it takes full HD movies as well. So what is there not to like?
