5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful for long shirts, 27 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I don't wear these if I'm going to be out of my blazer all day but they are extremely useful for pulling up the cuffs on shirts that are just a little bit too long - i.e. tuxedo shirts or double-cuffed shirts that fit around the neck but are too long in the arm.

The bands were tight the first time I tried them on which was slightly uncomfortable but they loosened up quickly and now fit my arms. Not sure if men with very large upper arms will feel comfortable with these on, might end up in a dead arm situation.

4.0 out of 5 stars Multi-functional Everyday Watch, 27 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
PROS:
- comfy strap
- large digital display which is easy to read
- innovative digital "analogue" clock face in top right corner of face which is nice to watch. There is a second marker that blips around the outside of this circular display and the hour and minute hands are standard.
- 5 time zones can be set up, and different alarms set for these time zones. Handy if you are on a transatlantic flight etc.
- Little world map is nice to look at
- battery is a 5-year one so that's a bonus point
- waterproof so no need to worry about having it on in the shower/bath/swimming etc

CONS:
- Back-light is fine in the dark but it is a little bit bleary - it's a small orange LED located at 7 o'clock so don't be expecting an "illumination" effect across the whole watch face.
- Watch is a little bit chunky on the wrist, not particularly apparent from the description
- the strap could be prone to splitting where the lug-pins are located - common Casio problem but not too expensive to replace and shouldn't happen for 2-3 years

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality and Quantity for less, 27 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
These fit my Cross Tech-3 perfectly. Tried and tested.

Writing quality is superior to the original refills supplied with the pen and it's always useful having spares because these size of refills tend to run out fairly quickly with moderate to heavy usage.

There is no black marking on the nib of the refills so not sure when the black one pops out for selection in the pen - this isn't an issue for me but may be annoying for others.

Considering the price, this works out around 4 times cheaper than buying the equivalent branded refills - can't go wrong with that.

Delivery was next day for me so no squabbles there. All in all a great buy - no need to buy more expensive refills again.

Thermos Thermocafe 2060 Steel Travel Mug, 0.4 Litre
Thermos Thermocafe 2060 Steel Travel Mug, 0.4 Litre

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, 27 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Mug is of good build quality - finishing is nice and the handle is sturdy.

The top definitely isn't leak-proof so don't go swinging it over your head or leaving it hanging on the outside pocket of a rucksack.

Top pushes down (not a screw top) firmly and has a little slider to open and close the mouth-hole.

Has kept drinks hot/warm for around 3 hours. Don't see why it would need to be any longer as this is a travel mug but is equally suited to sitting on a desk.

1 star removed because the slider which reveals the mouth hole has gotten "sticky" and is quite hard to push open and closed if left for a long time. I have tried steeping it to no avail.

Otherwise, solid product for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Concise book - mainly suited to quantitative dissertations, 27 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As above, this book is suited ideally for dissertations using a lot of primary researched data (i.e. physics experiments, questionnaires, large samples of data) and is not as useful for qualitative dissertations (i.e. discussions, critical evaluations).

I have given 4 stars as it didn't fit my needs exactly (my dissertation was qualitative) but for data-driven pieces of work it would be extremely helpful.

Would need to be read BEFORE starting the piece of work as there is a lot on planning the approach to the work before even starting it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Functional and great quality, 18 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
NOTE: This version of the pen (Cross Tech-3) DOES NOT have the stylus attachment which replaces "normal" cap at the top of the pen.

The pen contains a black, red and 5mm pencil function.

Twisting the pen clockwise allows the user to change function, so turn it once and the black nib pops out, turn clockwise again and it disappears, turn it again and the red nib appears and so on.

Replacing the ink is easy, you just pull the top half of the pen away from the bottom half (it might feel a bit stuff but just keep pulling) and then can pull out the inserts as necessary.

I'd recommend using these as replacements : http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008DRZ548/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3VJ1GOX51LFQ9

They are much cheaper and give equal, if not superior, writing quality as Cross branded refills.

PROS:

There is the option to turn counter-clockwise and retract the nib you are using so it appears when you turn clockwise again (saves having to scroll through all 3 again).

Build quality is superb - the black matt finish is extremely nice to hold in the hand and doesn't get sweaty/greasy from extended use. I personally don't find the pen heavy, it seems a good weight considering it's cast from metal.

The ink writes well and hasn't smudged or blobbed on the page.

The presentation case that the pen comes in is a nice touch; makes it ideal for a gift.

The top of the pen has a cap which can be unscrewed to reveal a rubber at the top which can be replaced pretty easily.

CONS:

The pencil function is a bit confusing - I can't figure out how to refill it without manually pushing the leads into the nib end whilst holding the pen in a "clicked" position. I haven't had the guts to pull the insert out yet.

The clip on the pen is stiff and probably wouldn't last too long if it was being clipped onto a shirt every day. It would likely bend out of shape or snap. Not a problem for me personally but others will use the pen differently.

CONCLUSION:

Extremely good pen. Great build quality. Writes extremely well. Handy having 3 options in 1 slim pen. Well priced if you get it below 30. Will last a lot longer and feels much nicer than the standard biro pens lying around.

Cheapest on Amazon and works as described. No problems with this product.

A word of caution - this item WILL NOT allow you to attach a USB or Hard-Drive to a Kindle Fire HD as the device itself can't accept or recognise them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Functional, economical and a great all round timekeeper, 20 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've worn this watch for a few days now and it has not disappointed.

PROS:

Straight out of the box it looks like a very busy watchface, but take 5 minutes to read the (very good) instructions provided and it's a doddle. It took me around 10 minutes to get to grips with all the features:

1. Analogue hands which are easily set in the H5 mode. I've got mine matched up to the digital display on the main mode, but also useful when using the dual time mode.
2. There are 3 separate daily alarms available with a snooze function built in.
3. The stopwatch is easy to use, but there are loads of extra functions in this mode like logbooks and splits etc which I won't personally use. If someone had the need for a very detailed stopwatch with logging capabilities and more this watch would tick all the boxes.
4. The back light is great at night time. It's a good green colour and can be set to stay on for either 1.5s or 3.0s which I thought was a nice touch.
5. The countdown timer is handy to have, not sure how much I'll use it.
6. It isn't apparent from the pictures on Amazon, but there is a second indicator running around the circumference of the watch face in between the hour markers. I didn't know about this from the descriptions on Amazon and was pleasantly surprised when I saw it.
7. The watch is surprisingly light, considering it has a metal strap. It still feels solid however.
8. The dual time screen is very handy for travellers. I'm off to the States in a few days and have had the Detroit time displayed below the UK time, to get myself into their timezone.

CONS:
1. Out of the box, it contains all the links so will only fit very large wrists. This is standard for out-of-the-box watches. I managed to resize the bracelet using the tip of a corkscrew to push the pins in and out - this saved the money of getting someone else to do it.
2. That's the only con.

SUMMARY:
I've got a lot of watched, and was looking for a combination watch with a few functions. This watch is affordable, extremely functional, timekeeping will be excellent (it's a casio after all), and it's water resistant (also looks and feels sturdy) so it should wear well. Would recommend as an everyday watch, travelling watch or just as an addition to a collection for the odd days wearing.
