Black's Noir., 1 July 2012
First, big confession. Apologies to Mister Black, but I hadn't heard of his books here in New York until seeing Murder Mile getting a cracking recommendation by Irish crime writer, Sam Millar. After only two pages in, I knew I was in for a treat. The story of murder could easily have been your usual mundane tale: late night drinkers happen upon a horrifically mutilated corpse of a young girl. The murder resembles a case from five years before. In comes the detective, etc, case solved. Thankfully, there is nothing mundane about the story weaved by Mister Black or his terrific writing. His main character, DI Rob Brennan, is a man not to be messed with. The type of person you would like to have covering your back in time of trouble. The book is an extremely quick read, but will have you going back, as the beauty of Mister Black's words come back to you, long after the book is put down. Highly recommended for your collection of fine crime books.

Powerful, 1 April 2011
This was recommended by crime writer Sam Millar as a 'fast-paced, truly original thriller.' He was right on the money, for my money at least. This was my first Debbi Mack book to be downloaded. Now I'll have to download the rest. Attorney Sam McRae is a terrific creation, and carries the book brilliantly along. highly recommended.

Excellent read, 12 Mar 2011
This is a terrific little read for a debut novel. I downloaded it after hearing bestselling crime writer Sam Millar praise it as one of the best debut novels he's read in many years as both a book reviewer and crime writer. He was right on the mark. I suspect Alex Kava is a name we will be hearing more of in the not too distant future.

Top Class Noir, 12 Mar 2011
"Alan Guthrie is the real thing, when it comes to noir." Crime writer Sam Millar said that about Guthrie's book and I for one fully agree. This is a relentless and page-turning thriller you never want to see end. And for the price of a coffee, how the hell can you not download it? Grab it while you can at this price.

Excellent read, 12 Mar 2011
This is a terrific, dark read. Crime writer Sam Millar praised it and so I bought it. Well worth every penny. (Come on, for 71p, how the hell can you complain?) it will keep you guessing until the very last page.

Powerful Noir, 14 Jun 2010
An excellent noir triumph. Dirty, gritty and as dark as a stormy night in New York. Oh, and very sexy...

Laugh a minute, 12 May 2010
Just do yourself a favour, and go and buy this totally original and very funny book. When you think of some of the crap out there, it's a disgrace that books like this don't get bigger publicity. Hopefully Wood is working on more of this genre. he is masterful.

Scary, 29 Mar 2010
Extremely unsettling, The Snowman will give you the scares other writers fail miserably to deliver. Nesbo is currently the leading crime writer, in my eyes, leaving all others tasting his dust.
