Price: £7.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Drucker: The Landmarks of His Ideas, 11 Mar. 2013
This little gem of a book takes the reader on a journey through some of the major events of the 20th Century by the hand of one of the leading thinkers in the field of management, Peter Drucker. We encounter Drucker in dialogue with political figures, academics and business practitioners. The author shows how these dialogues are transformed, through Drucker's pen, into valuable and often ground-breaking contributions to humanistic and management thought. However the book is more than an intellectual travelogue. The book offers a systematic explanation of the key ideas of Drucker, at times plunging the reader into some of Drucker's highly-readable original texts. The style of the book is clear and lively so that it can be enjoyed by anyone interested in the life and work of Peter Drucker and the history of management.

5.0 out of 5 stars Putting the book in perspective, 15 July 2010
This book is fantastic. Don't know how anyone can knock it. The style of writing for a philosopher is incredibly clear and still manages to express very complex ideas. This book was written in the 1980s and brought into the anglosaxon world important philosophical themes that had been pervasive for some time in German and French philosophy. Amongst these the idea that man is a 'story-telling animal' and that life is 'a narrative'. I think the whole book is excellent but in terms of innovation I would recommend reading chs 14 onwards.
