Outstanding telling of one mans challenge that reflects the state of Rural Britain, 14 Jan 2011
I was drawn to A Place in My Country for a variety of reasons. I'm from the country myself, indeed I was born and brought up not far from where the events in this book take place, and I know many of those locations. These days I spend far too much time in cities due to work. I'm also roughly the same age as the author and have in the past endured a period of similar "personal pain".
A Place in My Country is a thoughtful, realistic and touching view of life in Rural England. The book is very well written, the characters realistic and the locations brought to life on the page so well.
I bought this book when it first came out (I've been tardy in writing this review), and have re-read it at least five times now. I thoroughly recommend this book to any and all!
