Ministry of Food, 21 Oct 2010
I have been married for 47 years and never once cooked anything (to my shame). Having seen some of Jamie Olivers TV programmes where he made it all look so simple I decided to give it a go!
My first attempt from the Ministry of Food was a Minced Beef Wellington, totally condemned my my wife (a master chef) as "over ambitious". I followed Jamies instructions to the letter and amazingly it turned out as a Superb dish, and was cooked to perfection. Since that first dish I have attempted The Minced Beef and Onion pie, and the Meat loaf. They both turned out (amazingly) well. I'm not sure who was amazed the most, me or my wife. I now look forward with eagerness to each weekend when I can once more try out this new found skill!!
The bottom line is that Jamies instructions are so precise and well presented that even a kitchen duffer like me can turn out a dish which is very very presentable and good to eat. If I can do it, anyone can do it, and for that reason I would highly reccommend the Ministry of Food to other kitchen duffers to help them discover the pleasure of sitting down to a tasty dish which they have cooked in that foreign place (to them) the Kitchen.
