1.0 out of 5 stars No good for reading, 3 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Absolutely no good for learning to read Thai. The script is tiny and when you enlarge the font size it only enlarges the Roman script font, not the Thai so I physically cannot actually identify the individual letters in many cases. Obviously cheaply constructed epub. Might be OK if you're only interested in the romanisation of Thai but to actually learn the Thai script this is no good at all. Very frustrating.

3.0 out of 5 stars A R* Fan, 26 May 2011
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: L.A. Noire (PS3) (Video Game)
I'm a big fan of R* games, but L.A. Noire was just missing everything that makes a R* game. For example, they advertise a massive free roam, but you can't interact with anything in the free roam, such as, there are hotdog venders on all street corners, pubs, bars, clubs, buses, trams, but you can't do anything with them. You can't buy a hotdog, a drink, get a ride on a tram or bus. It's these little things that make a game a fun game. Also, another big point for R* fans is that you do not carry a weapon on you, and you can't get hold of one unless its for a specific mission and then after the mission you gun disappers.

Another thing, everyone has made a big thing about the graphics, but they are no better than RDR, also this game cannot cope with people doing things it doesn't expect, for example if you park your car in a way that you can't get out the door and you try to get out, suddenly you will appear a couple of blocks away from your vehicle. Very weird.

Overall this game's storyline is fun, but the main attraction to a lot of people is the free roam, and to be honest it sucks.

The Pros:

The graphics are good, but no better than RDR.
The storyline is gripping.
Each character has a very distinct personality.
It feels like a true detective style game.

The Cons:

The free roam is terrible, you can't interact with it.
You can't just drive any vehicle you see.
There is very very little action in this game, you can go hours of storyline and not even pull out your gun, and when you do most of the time you can only fire a warning shot.
The hand to hand combat is also very sparse, and for some reason the dubbing is out, when you punch someone there will be no noise, then after the hit you'll hear a whack. very weird.

Overall buy this game if you like being a detective, but once you've finished the game it's finished, their are only 40 side missions, when there over there over.

Hope this helps you make a decision.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, 12 Jun 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This Game is absolutely amazing, a true western adventure game. 5 stars.

I only have 3 major problems, the first is the ending, this has to be possibly the worst ending of any game,
the second is the amount of glitches, although a amazingly fun game, it is packed with gltches, although non of them affect game play,i dont expect this kind of thing in a no.1 game, my third and final problem is the online, there are never enough players in a death match, it's not uncommon to have 1 on 2, and also you get kicked from soooo many matches due to "internet problems" although i find it hard to believe that my internet is the problem as it is 6mb and the tower is 20 yards from my house. but aside from these 3 problems, it is the best game i've ever played.

I would recomend it to everyone. hours of enjoyment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Incomparable to the first course, 16 July 2006
As a homeschool family we learnt the basics of speaking Spanish with the first 8 hour course and looked forward to moving ahead with this advanced course only to be disappointed.

The new students he uses don't appear to have done the first course and so it's frustrating to listen to them struggling with the basics and holding us back. The new content doesn't come for some considerable time - perhaps a bit in cd3 but mostly cd4.

There is no practise at listening to spoken Spanish which we had hoped to get on an advanced course and the tenses work we also expected was somewhat lacking.

The sound quality is poor for some reason and my copies do not fully play all tracks but due to the passage of time since purchase before we reached the non playing tracks I doubt they can now be returned.

All in all I would say the initial 8 hours course he does is excellent and effective at teaching Spanish speaking but this is a diappointing poor follow up to that. Neither course teaches listening for which I am now seeking supplemental audio material - essential if in a non Spanish speaking area.
