Double Je
Double Je

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price for the 2nd song on it... but wait!, 25 Nov. 2011
This review is from: Double Je (Audio CD)
On this 2-track CD, you can hear "Double je" (the song that made him famous overnight in French-speaking countries) AND... "Des nues", a beautiful, touching ballad that he co-wrote with a friend of his. The thing is, people tend to sell this CD at a very high price because you can find "Double je" on his other CDs all right... but "Des nues" only exists in 2 versions : this one (the purest and most beautiful) and the one on "Inventaire tout en acoustic" (it's different, a little bit longer with a few lines added).

This first "Des nues" is hard to find. Or is it?! I've just noticed it was sold as a mp3 on here, except it's called "Des Mues" (which is hilarious if you speak French, by the way!!!) So keep your money and buy the whole "Inventaire" album and the 69p "Des nues (piano)".

1.0 out of 5 stars Stops when the story should begin at last!, 29 Sept. 2009
I've listened to several "Torchwood" audio books/stories for Radio 2 and "Asylum" is, by far, the most disappointing. Pretty good acting from the cast, but that's not what makes the story captivating, unfortunately. I was really surprised at the end of it, because it felt like something was happening at last, (boring) pieces were starting to fall into place. But no. That was it.
Don't waste your money on this. The only good thing about "Asylum" is PC Andy, who, for once, doesn't ask "how high?" when Gwen tells him to jump.

(sorry for any spelling mistake, English is not my mother tongue)

1.0 out of 5 stars UK viewers : buy the 2 disc French edition of "Rent" !!, 25 Jun. 2009
This review is from: Rent [DVD] [2006] (DVD)
It's available on amazon.fr (it's a region 2 DVD)and has English audio, English subtitles, commentary by Chris Colombus, Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp, a one hour (or so) documentary on the making of "Rent" (both the musical and the movie) and Jonathan Larson, its creator. There are also deleted scenes ("Halloween" and the heartbreaking "Goodbye love" are not to be missed!!)

"Rent" is one of the most brilliant and touching movies I've seen so far, and this 2 disc edition is cheap... so it would be a shame to miss all the extras.

4.0 out of 5 stars characters you get to know and love ; a bad show inside the show, 4 Feb. 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One thing you have to know before watching "Studio 60" : don't expect to laugh that much.
This show is really clever (you couldn't expect less from Sorkin anyway!), and all of the characters become, at some point, really likeable so you want to know what'll happen in their life. The thing is, I thought the first 2 or 3 episodes were pretty boring. And the loud music doesn't help either. And then, just out of nowhere, the show just grabs you! I happened to laugh out loud sometimes, but every single time it was about a particular situation. Not because the line that was just delivered was funny.
The show inside the show ("Studio 60" is about the life of writers and comedians creating a show - like SNL - called "Studio 60"... in the studio 60 !) is not even remotely funny. I'd even say it's appalling, and you do not expect for a second real viewers to watch it.
Matthew Perry does an excellent job, playing the insecure writer Matt Albie. He really is the heart of the show. And I was delighted to see Whitford and Busfield again!
You'll enjoy discovering what happens behind the scenes of a weekly live show ; you'll want the main characters to find love ; you'll see that sometimes your boss is not as mean as (s)he seems ; you'll find out that sometimes love and religion don't mix that well.

Oh, and don't worry about the show ending after one season ; there's a really decent last episode, all of the main plots are solved.

(sorry if you find mistakes, English is not my mother tongue)
