5.0 out of 5 stars There's always music in the air, 9 Nov 2002
A long overdue UK DVD issue of the first, and finest season, of David Lynch's masterpiece. It's over ten years since this inspired take on cheesy US sitcoms, murder mystery and surreal horror hit BBC2 on dark winter nights over 1990/91, but the memories are still vivid.
A major advantage of the UK DVD release over the previously issued US release is the inclusion of the European Pilot - as any Twin Peaks fan will tell you - this is hotly sought after, and qualifies it for collector's status in the US.
The picture and sound quality are outstanding, and unleash the amazing production values of the show. The scenery and the sets come alive in rich colour, and the dark undertones of Badalementi's soundtrack are vividly reproduced.
The pathetic sound and picture quality of the video release of the early nineties is long forgotten when this wrapped in plastic box set is opened up. The extra's are damn fine too.
Cancelled after only two seasons, Twin Peaks remains a benchmark for masterpiece cult television. If only ABC had allowed Lynch to develop Mullholland Falls....
Look again on a collection of captivating characters, breathtaking scenery, mind bending storylines, and remember, the owls are not what they seem....
Roll on season two.
