Inside Team Sky: The Inside Story of Team Sky and Their Challenge for the 2013 Tour de France
Inside Team Sky: The Inside Story of Team Sky and Their Challenge for the 2013 Tour de France
by David Walsh
Edition: Hardcover
Price: 12.91

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent Book which not only reassures the sceptics of Team Sky`s ethics but also explains why they are so succesful, 9 Jan 2014
All followers of cycling know of David Walsh who, when asked "Who would you like to win the Tour de France in 2000" said "Anyone but Lance Armstrong". Even back then he was sure that Armstrong was cheating and so many fans (myself included) wanted to believe the amazing story of someone who had defeated cancer to win the toughest sporting event in the World. Despite being cast as a pariah, and being sued by Armstrong David Walsh stuck to his beliefs - the rest is history.
Who better then to be given the opportunity of having such free access to Team Sky? Just being invited to investigate, ask questions of all the riders and staff and root around to try to discover the use of any methods/treatments or use of performance enhancing drugs which are outside the rules goes a long way to giving confidence in Sky`s operations. What David Walsh also discovers and explains to the reader is Sky`s attention to detail, their team spirit amongst all the riders and staff and their constant search for legal ways of achieving "marginal gains". I also read at the same time "Easy Rider" by Rob Hayles - also highly recommended - but his description of his 2 years with Cofidis goes a long way to explain why a rider from a French team has not won the Tour for many years and explains how Sky achieved their goal of winning the Tour well within their 5 year plan. I highly recommend this book by David Walsh.

Listen hard and you will hear some good one liners but it is nowhere near as good as similar films such as 4 Weddings/Nottinghill etc.

Great life story of a natural and brave pilot.
Can`t say I would have liked to have served with him in real life as he sounds a bit of a maverick but this is a must read for anyone who grew up in the post war era and loves aviation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Series - I hope they do more!, 31 Mar 2013

Ben & Sarah are great together in these roles. The appeal is also the final scenes when Ben solves the murder with all suspects present - like an Agatha Christie crime.

4.0 out of 5 stars At last an air vent accessory for a sat nav that works!, 31 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have tried various accessories for mounting my sat navs (I have 2 as we have 2 cars & my wife and I need one each for our work - otherwise we would move the sat nav from one to the other).
The To Tom air vent mount is too flimsy & breaks immediately or the springs jump out and you lose them under the car seats. I also have a dash board mount but that doesnt fit on my wife`s car as the dash board does not have a flat area to mount it and on her car the screen has a steep rake so the standard windscreen mount for a tom tom makes it too far away from the driver

The Duragadget works great in the central air vent. I am only giving it 4 starts as my tom tom (a Start 25 model) will not fit as it is too wide for the limits of the Duragadget..

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Insight into a crisis of the monarchy., 22 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a story which has fascinated me for years - this book goes a long way towards bringing reality to so many of the rumours surrounding this chapter of UK & world history.
The overriding feeling is that Wallace Simpson did the UK a great service as Edward would have made a terrible monarch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Veba Parking Sensor, 26 Dec 2012
I researched many retro fit parking sensors for my Citroen C4 (2008 model) - I wanted to avoid if possible having to cut a number of holes in the bumper as it is difficult to match the colour and I also wanted to avoid having to lead the wiring via a control unit right through to the front of the car. I also researched reversing cameras but these tend to be expensive.
The Veba parking sensor seemed to fit the bill. The kit comes complete with the sensor and the audible loudspeaker, a drill bit the correct size for feeding the cables through, cable ties and double sided adhesive pads and basic instructions.
The Citroen C4 number plate is integral with the rear bumper rather than being incorporated in the hatchback door which makes the wiring easier. I removed the existing number plate and drilled through the bumper in the centre at a position to allow the sensor to sit as high as possible in the number plate recess. The wires are then fed through this hole and the sensor secured with as many double sided adhesive pads as can be fitted. There is a rubber grommet on the rear of the sensor which fits tightly into the hole drilled in the bumper which also secures the sensor to the car.
One set of wires are fed to the audible loudspeaker which I secured with an adhesive pad to the interior of the car at the rear and the second set of wires has 2 leads, the red one is secured to the positive wire leading to the reversing lamp and the second black wire is secured to a metal part of the underside of the car to form an earth. If unsure which is the positive wire check your car wiring diagram although the green or partially green wire is the earth lead so the other wire is the positive one. To secure the wire to the reversing lamp I used a scotchlock connector. There is lots of spare cable so this was secured to the car using the cable ties. I then refitted the number plate immediately below the sensor.
The sensor is activated by selecting reverse gear and emits a series of bleeps which becomes a continuous sound when you are about 9 inches from the object behind you.
Time for installation about 2 hours. I`m delighted with this product and consider it to be excellent value for money
