Couldn't put this book down and laughed out loud!, 4 Dec 2009
This is the first book since reading David Sedaris that has actually made me laugh out loud!
Have always been interested in behind-the-scenes of films, so I really enjoyed the diary style extracts of Richard E Grant's early experiences as a hungry actor desperate to make it in the film industry. Didn't realise he'd be as hilarious on paper as he is in films. His self-depriciating humour, modesty and honesty not only allow him to connect with the other actors/directors but also the reader. By giving us some small peaks into his private life and how an actors' ego and self-esteem can be affected by the film industry, it's the first time I've ever felt any empathy for actors.
Have just ordered The Wah-Wah Diaries for some more of that!
