AmazonBasics CD / DVD Wallet 64 Disc Capacity Nylon Black
AmazonBasics CD / DVD Wallet 64 Disc Capacity Nylon Black
Price: 6.99

3.0 out of 5 stars Encloses 64 discs, 21 April 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a sturdily made chic, black nylon product with a carry loop and black metal zipper that comprises 16 pages with a double transparent pocket each side for 2 discs so that the pages 2 sides hold 4 discs and thus the whole wallet purports to hold 64 discs, which it does-however,the spinal connection seems rather narrow to me and as with another wallet I bought,it's designed with a fanlike spine to make the pockets a floppy array...I wouldn't feel comfortable that the total complement of discs weren't being warped especially with long presence in the wallet so would probably only pack 2 discs per side which means the wallet is still good to hold 32 discs...it may be fine to load 64 discs and do no damage short-term or even longer but I think a re-design would be better even though the spine of the wallet would be broader.

My Way is the true tale of two rival Asian runners, one Korean, one Japanese, one,of the occupees, the other, of the occupants who the former of whom and his Korean comrades are co-opted into the IJA after a riot over a disputed run result-As Koreans they are treated badly by the chauvinist Imperialists until in a suicide mission both they and their Japanese captors are defeated and captured in turn by the Russians who use them as Russified cannon fodder against the Germans...then they are captured by the Germans and Germanized as cannon fodder against the Western Allies and the war ends for them...the film is long but worthy and grounded on a true story and I recommend a watch given the excellent thespianism despite some corny heroics, given the extraordinary battle scenes and special effects and the complete linguistic authenticity so,beware lazy sub-title haters unless your Korean,Japanese,Russian and German are up to scratch.

As in HG Wells' The Time Machine, these aristocratic immortal folk of the apocalyptic future all speak Surrey English much like renaissance man Shakespeares Hamlet does(who was Danish) but even so,this is an interessant sci-fi film from the seventies that showcases Connery in some bizarre semi-gladiatorial outfits worthy of the bizarrest Paris collections;the plot is mad and clever enough and dystopically topical and full of psychedelic scenes redolenter of the sixties than of the seventies but it is also a thoughtful plot despite its dramatic hysteria...there are some very good effects for the time and of course,it's dated just as every time is destined to be and the story plays with that idea of immoral immortality as the Vampire and Mummy myths do...there are four good extras on this version that include a commentary and it's generally a steal at the mo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent digital sophistry, 15 April 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a very lightweight gadget that could also do with an inclusive pouch or bag so flimsy is it...it is complexer in its record options than my previous recorder and is it fun to explore those options given its dual stereo microphone functionality...the usual digital menu guides you and there is a good leaflet inclusive in the box...the direct usb link is very convenient and the mp3 player function is an excellent extra although my version doesn't include radio...the recordings sound fine and you can tweak the circumstances and results via the very exhaustive menu...I think this is a good buy and you could do worse than to try one of these models...but buy a case or holster as rather plasticy and fragile.

THE ART OF SEEING
THE ART OF SEEING

This is a good book if you you've the time to try out all its techniques over cumulative time, tricks which Huxley gives specific names to like blinking and so forth and holding your hand over one eye, techniques oddly like old photographic darkroom tricks for getting effects in pictures...Palming is another and basically, Huxley explains the methodology of Dr. Bates for the improvement of misused eyesight due to bad habit or professional speciality...personally, I find rasterbrille a quicker mechanical way to improve the sight but Huxley's book is worth a read given the primary importance of sight even if is rather antique, perhaps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, 10 April 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Be vorsichtig with this gadget because it's easy to shoot the staples cackhandedly...it is a simple tool with a simple slide bar through the handle that stops the trigger and it staples perfectly and comes with a,I think, generous sampler set of nails and staples...it's a good handy weight and not even very loud although I think the lead is rather short without an extension...it is easy to load and comes with full instructions and really,it's idiot-proof and better still is fitted with a metal loop to hang from your belt,whatever...I guess it's not heavy duty and I can't test it for longevity or against another brand and I haven't costed replacement ammo either but it will certainly do your average parcels et caetera quickly and easily.

This film must seem like a silent monochrome antique to todays youngsters or otherwise a classic horror packed with gothic atmosphere or may simply be one of Hammers lesser outings and less seen films...in fact some of the mood and music is redolent of,of all films, Polanski's horror comical,The Fearless Vampire Killers but it's mood is very serious.

Gorgopa is written about,I think,in Graves' book The White Goddess and it is likely that the stoniness of the victims corpse is due to an instantaneous rigor mortis through the occult horror of her dreadful appearance,perhaps...it makes for a good monster film, even so and this version weaves reincarnation into the classical legend, set in Austria,it seems.

Cushing and Shelley give their usual excellent performances and Lee only appears later on in the plot but cameos include Patrick Troughton, looking authoritative or uncomfortable in a 19th century pickelhaube, worn in Germany until 1916.

The dvd is a little scanty with its audio-visual extras having only the trailer and the vulgar and incongruous intrusion of a trailer for 'Hancock',whatever that is,however, and unusually, the soundtrack includes a German dub for the choice of audio fictional realism and furthermore the product includes a handsome 21 page booklet full of interessant images...the dvd is not bad at all on the whole and not too dear, either.Man Who Could Cheat Death [DVD] [2008] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC]

4.0 out of 5 stars Gothic fantasia, 8 April 2014

This French film is from a book by an English early gothic writer set in Spain-there is no Spanish dub but the film is very good although secular audiences,in short,Godless ones, might not understand the pious choices and dilemmas that underpin the twisty plot that concerns an orphan who becomes an influential preacher,an ideological star,of the Catholic church in Spain of about 200 years ago.

I will not spoil the storys suspense only to say that the young priest succumbs to carnal temptation and thus behaves unlike his ideological idol,Christ,or Jeshua Ha Notsri-there are some excellent hallucinatory scenes and a grim ending for the sinner whose sins probably include pride as well as lust...the dvd itself has no extras and is very sparse but the kinomatographeia is excellent and Vincent Cassals performance mesmeric.

I can see why nostalgic purists wouldn't like this film but I do and although I was very young when the original televisual Avengers were current with that fabulous and classic theme music I still think this very good and Thurmans accent was very Surrey...the subtext is still horribly chauvinist, classist and liberal but that's twendy Bwitain and yet the weather plot,no pun meant, is all too topical, even prophetic for the late 90's...it may be that the two stars performances are either camp or stilted but so was the original and yes,it is a belated thing to film The Avengers for the kino so long after the telescopic show of the 1960's...Izzard gives a good villain performance and Connery is great as the nutty meteorological tyrant...I sympathise with him as I do with the Joker and many another heroic heretic. No extras,a very stingy dvd, though.

Like many of the very overrrated classical sixties historical epic films that more or less chavinistically celebrated the vintage intrigues of mediaeval monarchy this films diction is also anachronistic except with less excuse especially given that Thee's and Thou's were still spoken in the 16th century as they are in Shakespeares plays whereas in this play, one underling Cockney character actually uses the relatively modern terminal 'Yeah'...too much Surrey English, too, nothing like renaissance English or even reformation English...Nope,I also thought Mr. McKenna's take was overly bombastic in a typical theatrical style and even his coiffure looked too modern for 1547 but this is also down to the knowledge and taste of the young director...realism is important in a historical film...as to the content,it can only be factional as none of us were there and so it is as reasonable as any other reconstruction and I've not read anything much on this period to comment thereto.

The film is about 1 hour and twenty six minutes and the interessant extras about 25 minutes.
