Power of Love: To Transform Our Lives and Our World (Jung on the Hudson Book)
Power of Love: To Transform Our Lives and Our World (Jung on the Hudson Book)
by June K. Singer
Edition: Paperback
Price: 13.87

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding & wholly readable, 2 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The cover art [on the paperback edition] does little justice to this deep, beautifully written book. Singer is both an exceptional psychotherapist, and observer-historian of social change. Lots to learn here, from a Jungian-Transpersonal analyst who never ceased to explore, and convincingly join up the dots on all kinds of important issues. With the essential one of Love at the center of the work, of course.

Fascinating and graceful film by Richard Wilhelm's grand-daughter, about his life and great encounter with Taoism, and masterful translation of the I Ching, in China. One to watch several times.

Depth Psychology and a New Ethic
by Erich Neumann
Edition: Paperback
Price: 12.77

5.0 out of 5 stars The indispensable depth psychology of human evil, 30 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A compact, unique and eloquent book by one of the grand-masters of Jungian psychology. Neumann examines the reality of human evil and the shadow of our species, with all the depth and subtlety it deserves.Every bit as relevant to our 21st century evil of climate change "propaganda / denial" as it is to Nazism & the twentieth century's other totalitarian barbarisms.

Jung on Evil
Jung on Evil
by C.G Jung
Edition: Paperback
Price: 24.99

5.0 out of 5 stars The depth psychology of evil, 15 Sep 2013

This review is from: Jung on Evil (Paperback)
I guess you wouldn't purchase this book unless you have grown dissatisfied of the conventional religious story that good & evil are opposed metaphysical principles in everlasting conflict above and beyond human nature. For what C G Jung so convincingly discovered was that we are ourselves the source of all coming evil. If two world wars & the nuclear arms race haven't convinced you, we now have anthropogenic global warming as the inescapable evidence of the shadow of our species. This concise work, presenting Jung's deep & prescient insights into the nature of evil, also has a fine intro by Murray Stein.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well-Informed & very readable too, 2 Aug 2010

This review is from: Eaarth (Hardcover)
This is an outstanding book because it is so up-to-date, both with climate science and through telling personal observations of how our environment and the natural world are changing. The author doesn't flinch from telling it like it is, yet the writing is fast-paced, hip and good-humored. I read the first half of the book in almost one sitting, because it was "un-put-downable". The second half of the book addresses localizing solutions - this is more limited (specifically to the New England area of America, by way of example) and not quite as exciting as the global tour through EAARTH. Well worth purchasing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unmissable, inspirational, extraordinary, 27 Mar 2010

This is a great collection of essays by Thomas Berry, the great cultural historian, mystic and evolutionist. He passed away last year -- a Christian monk with a profound understanding of Shamanism and Asian religions as well as science, cosmology and evolution. Best of all, his lucidity was fully matched by exquisite English expression. The essays here (1972 - 2001) are organized in 4 parts, covering the full scope of his amazing contribution to understanding the human place in the universe and Earth history-- and the momentous nature of our present ecological crisis. A book that shares a unique path at a troubled time: spiritual truth combined with ecological understanding. Indispensable!
