4.0 out of 5 stars Fitted fine in a Mk2 Focus (2005), 4 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Used to fit a JVC stereo in my Mk2 Focus.

The stereo was a VERY! snug fit in the aperture - at first I thought there was no way it would go in but eventually it did.

The fixing clips don't seem very positive. They are supplied loose in a bag and you have to clip them over the plastic at the sides, where they are supposed to be fixed in place by the backwards "barbed" clips. But 3 of the 4 easily pulled off. I bent them slightly with pliers and that seemed to help the barbs dig into the plastic

The storage compartment doesn't clip particularly permanently into place - it can be pulled out quite easily.

The whole assembly is quite a tight fit into the opening in the Focus, after removing the original radio, although it doesn't lock into place - I suspect the whole lot could be pulled back out quite easily.

But overall, very pleased - it does the job!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great upgrade to old Ford radio/CD, 4 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased to replace the factory fitted Ford 6000CD in my recently bought Mk2 Focus (2005 vintage).

Fitting was straightforward.

In contrast to other reviews, mine DID come with a printed English manual, but did NOT come with an adapter cable - the supplied cable has an ISO connector on the end, to which you have to connect an ISO harness, or an adapter cable if your vehicle has its own type of loom. I needed a Ford to ISO connector adaptor cable and an ISO to DIN aerial adapter - should have taken the old radio out to check the connections before placing my Amazon order instead of paying almost twice as much for these at the highstreet car accessory shop.

For the handsfree (via Bluetooth) function the supplied wired microphone has to be plugged into the rear and the cable routed to somewhere suitable for fixing the microphone (using its self adhesive bracket). I used a double-height Ford fascia adaptor, and this includes a "storage compartment" below the radio. I drilled a hole in the side of this and put the microphone inside the compartment - much neater I thought than having the cable trailing around the dashboard.

Once it was in (a VERY snug fit into the fascia adapter) it was up and running as soon as the ignition key was turned. Bluetooth pairing was very simple. I did have some problems making a phonecall using the phone's contacts (on a Moto X) - when selecting "call from phonebook" it seems to take a while downloading the contacts as you scroll through them, and the one I tried got a wrong number (from a different contact). Also the "dial number" function would be pretty unusable when driving - each digit has to be entered by twirling the knob, then moving the cursor to the right - not very user friendly. Haven't tried the voice dialling function yet.

Apart from those tiny issues, so far very pleased.

The output is apparently 50W per channel - no idea how to find out the power rating of the Ford speakers without ripping the doors apart to inspect them. There is a setting to limit the output to a suitable level to avoid blowing up less accommodating speakers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Work great for LED MR16 lamps, 6 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Working brilliantly powering two 7W Aurora MR16 LED lamps ... actually I have two pairs powered from two of these drivers. There is a short and slightly random delay when switching on, so my two pairs of lights come on at slightly different times, but not a problem.

I used these to replace Aurora 10-60W AC output transformers, which failed and burned when trying to drive the Aurora LED lamps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, does the job, Can be modified to use as a spare plate for the Amazon Basics 62" ball head tripod, 6 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I needed a spare plate to fit to a second camera for use with the Amazon Basics 62" ball head tripod.

This plate fits OK BUT NEEDS A BIT OF METALWORK to make it fit. The Amazon tripod as a quick release latch as well as a clamping screw. To get this plate on, a slot needs to be cur in one end to line up with the latch pin (with the tripod's release button in the pressed position).

I tried to use my trusty Dremel for this but the metal is VERY hard. I ended up filing it by hand.

After doing the mod it fits very well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work with Aurora MR16 LED lamps (2 x 7W) - failed and burned, 6 Mar. 2016
My bathroom has four MR16 fittings, previously equipped with 50W halogen MR16 lamps, driven in two pairs by two very old transformers. I replaced the lamps with Aurora 7W LED MR12s, which were an insufficient load for the old (35W-105W) transformers. So I looked for replacement transformers that should work with the 14W total load of a pair of the 7W LED lamps.

These Aurora 10-60W ones looked ideal, and the LED lamps indicated that they should work (albeit not optimally) with an AC or DC 12V supply.

They worked for a couple of days then one pair started flashing, presumably indicating that the transformer was not happy. After a short time the transformer failed and took out the (6 Amp) circuit breaker. The second pair started flashing a while later so that one is also probably on the way to doing the same thing.

Replaced with 12V constant voltage DC LED drivers, which so far appear to be working fine.

The Aurora 10-60W transformer doesn't seem to protect itself very well against non ideal loads. It says on the box "Thermal Protection" but it seems to fail rather spectacularly in this situation - I had a look inside the failed one - see photo.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great camera but so-called App support is next-to-non-existent for this model, 29 Dec. 2015
Purchased for my son to replace at DSC-HX50 which failed after 2 months (D pad buttons became super sensitive so it would scroll through menus by itself making it pretty unusable). My son was very keen on the possibilities offered by the add-on apps available from Sony, so I bought this one instead of just replacing the DSC-HX50. Also the viewfinder was very appealing.

The camera itself was great (purchased from a high street retailer), but the supposed apps were a disaster.

Firstly, to connect the camera to the PC to attempt to download apps from the Sony website I had to jump through various hoops - the website only appears to work in Internet Explorer as it uses some plugin that is not compatible with Chrome. Also it refused to recognise the camera during this process unless I temporarily disabled my (Avast) anti virus - basically the whole process was rather clunky.

It should also have been possible to connect the camera direct to the Sony website via WiFi but unfortunately the web page that it was trying to connect to appeared to be either no longer available or perhaps temporarily down.

Anyway, we eventually got it connected to the PC and got onto the Sony camera apps website, only to find that this particular model is totally useless for this purpose.

Before connecting the camera, the Sony website lists loads of tempting looking apps, such as timelapse, multiple exposure, etc.

BUT once the camera is connected and it is able to check which apps are actually compatible with this model, it turns out that the total number is THREE. And two of those were already built into the camera and the website was just offering updates for them.

Perhaps I should have checked app compatibility more carefully - we just assumed that as all the apps of interest are compatible with the DSC-HX60, they would also be compatible with the HX90 because it is just a "better version than the HX60 with a viewfinder and tilting screen" - right? No - WRONG!

Fortunately the high street retailer is brilliant for no-questions-asked returns to we returned it and instead purchased (from Amazon) the DSC-HX400V. AFTER carefully checking that all the apps that my son was interested in were compatible. It's a much chunkier camera but the apps are working brilliantly. (It still has the clunky way of connecting where we have to use IE and disable anti virus).

So ... pros ... Pocketable size, great viewfinder ... cons ... app support is pants.

1.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't get it to fit Moto X Style, 8 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased to hopefully fit my son's new Moto X Style (2015 version). Unfortunately the rubbery plastic thing that the phone is supposed to fit into looked about 1cm too short for the phone. It was however a bit stretchy so I tried to get the phone in. Got 3 corners in but the fourth was so tight that I didn't dare try to stretch it over the phone - would have needed some kind of mini shoe horn to get the phone in, and I didn't want to scratch it, so returned it. The packaging definitely said it was for the correct phone but no good for me.

Slouch Mat 24x20cm Mouse Mat - Black
Slouch Mat 24x20cm Mouse Mat - Black

3.0 out of 5 stars Good mouse mat but BEWARE OF MARKING SURFACES - have not yet found anything to clean off the marks, 30 Aug. 2015
Purchased one of these elsewhere. It works great as a mousemat.

But ...

Accidentally left it for 2 weeks on a wipe-clean tablecloth while on holiday, and on return found that the knobbly grey bumps underneath have indeed left grey marks on the surface. I have tried all my household solvents from IPA to acetone and none have touched the marks. My wife is less than pleased!

As others have noted it probably warned about this on the packaging, but that was thrown away long ago.
