5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic series and the U.S. Blu-ray works in the UK, 24 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As an adult fan of animation and the original series I was looking forward to this follow up to 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' and it doesn't disappoint. The original series dealt with interesting ideas that were more complex than the standard fare for a children's cartoon and it went to some unexpectedly dark places. The cast for this new series is older and the overall tone is more grown up too; this change and the smaller number of episodes makes for more intense storytelling. There is still humour in the series but fewer goofy, childish moments. The design is fantastic, being influenced by 30s Shanghai with a combination of western and eastern styles. The quality in animation is greatly improved over the original series making it a visual feast for the eyes. A highly recommended series on all counts.

As noted by other review this US Import Blu-ray set appears to be region free and I have not had any problems playing it on my UK Playstation 3.

5.0 out of 5 stars The name of the series says it all., 20 May 2014

In my opinion this is THE definitive version of Spider-Man. Greg Weisman and Victor Cook draw from many sources to create it including the Ultimate Spider-Man comics and the Sam Raimi films but the focus was producing a contemporary interpretation of the original Stan Lee and Steve Ditko comics. All the major characters like Norman Osborn, almost all the minor ones like Sha Shan Nguyen and some storylines come from or are inspired by the decades of comic source material. Episodes are self contained but are also part of 3 or 4 episode, season and series long story arcs. We see characters and relationships develop in that time from Peter Parker through Flint Marko to Flash Thompson. It truly captures the character and the world of Spider-Man.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!, 24 Feb. 2014
After years of waiting it looks like this will finally reach U.K. shores and in that time I went and bought the Region 1 DVD version; I hope that this sells well even with most fans like myself having already bought the series. Please, please release season 2 and also a Blu-ray set Sony!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Fun, 10 Mar. 2011

As a fan of the Marvel fighting games from Capcom since X-Men: Children of the Atom this is a welcome addition to the series. Above all else it is fun with very great gameplay mechanics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect solution, 12 Aug. 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
There are only 2 USB ports on the PS3 slim and this can be very inconvenient especially if one owns a PlayTV device leaving 1 port available. 1 port for recharging controllers or plugging in wireless dongles e.g. for Street Fighter IV controllers is frustrating. This little accessory is the excellent solution; it fits by plugging into the 2 USB ports and clipping to the underside of the console overhang. Now one has double the ports available and adds an SD card slot for easy data transfer; this means I'm now able to plug in the PlayTV, 2x Street Fighter IV controller dongles and charge my Dual Shock 3 all at the same time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value!, 20 Oct. 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
The Beatles: Rock Band is a fantastic game that is superbly presented and great fun to play. If you want to buy a set of drums, guitar and microphone to play with other Rock Band games or Guitar Hero 5 then this is the best option because Rock Band: Band in a Box (Wii) appears to always be out of stock and the Guitar Hero: World Tour - Complete Band Game (Wii) is more expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars An actual review of the controller, 19 Oct. 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is for the actual product rather than a complaint about the description of the product that never states that the game is included.

As with the other two Rock Band (RB) Beatles guitars the Gretsch is based on the standard Rock Band Stratocaster guitar that appears to only be available for Playstation on Amazon unless you buy the Rock Band: Band in a Box (Wii). The Gretsch is approximately 2 inches longer than the Stratocaster; the Rickenbacker is the same size as the Stratocaster and the Hofner included in the limited edition premium bundle is approximately 5 inches longer than the Stratocaster. It should be noted that the Rock Band Stratocaster is approximately 2 inches longer than the Guitar Hero (GH) World Tour guitar.

I find the larger scale of the Gretsch with adjusted fret button positions much more comfortable to play. As with all RB guitars the fret buttons are larger than those on GH guitars, they also do NOT require a Wii remote to work (making set-up less fiddly) and the strum bar does not click when pressed (making the experience more engrossing).

All the Beatles instruments are more expensive than previous guitar controllers and the quality is noticeably superior. The finish on all the components is superb on the Gretsch and the build feels more solid and less toy-like. I would definitely not want to go back to using a GH guitar after playing with this but it's up to individuals to decide whether the premium is worth paying.

It should be noted that Rock Band guitars on the Wii are only compatible with Guitar Hero 5 and later games e.g. Band Hero.

5.0 out of 5 stars The story is heating up or should that be freezing up?, 9 July 2009
I'm not sure why the first reviewer feels this volume strays from the main plot of the series because it continues to develop it throughout. The anime focuses more the Elric brothers but the manga weaves their story into the fabric of the far greater story of the world of FMA. The broader plot involves the homunculi and their plans; dealing with the newly introduced "Sloth" from the previous volume is an important aspect of the series.

If you've been enjoying the far more layered story of the manga then this is another fantastic volume that will keep you enthralled!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great installment..., 26 Aug. 2007
...of this very long running action-horror manga. It's Volume 7 of 8 that Dark Horse published and it's too bad that they have not seen fit to continue with it. If you have seen and liked the animated version then you will definitely like the manga because it fills in gaps and really develops the characters, themes and mythos. Highly recommended!
