1.0 out of 5 stars Scooby Doo with no dog., 6 Aug 2012
I can not stress enough how much rubbish this book is. The four good-guys were apparently based on the four humans in Scooby Doo, and so, for that matter, was the plot. The book came complete with a spooky house, a comic-book villain and so many loose-ends left hanging that it is obviously just a taster for a whole series. I don't think this book is meant for adults at all and certainly not those who can count.

1.0 out of 5 stars Gorky Park its not, 2 Jun 2009
This review is from: Child 44 (Paperback)
A difficult book to read. Unpleasant and frustrating, capped by a ridiculous ending. It does is make one thankful for their own freedoms but, on the downside, leaves you frustrated at a regime that is long gone.
The book works as a comment on Stalin's Russia but not as a story. I'll not buy another one by this author.

1.0 out of 5 stars lost the plot, wasn't very big in the first place, 13 Sep 2006
I was a big fan of the early Bandy books; they had wit, subtlety, comedy, insight and a hard edge. "Hitler Versus Me" I find actually painful to read. What ought to have been a wonderful vehicle for Bart's genius and ineptitude turns out to be a marathon you have to force yourself to read, in the hope it improves as you get through it.
