3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed slightly..., 25 Jun 2010
Being an enthusiast on the waffen ss, I purchased this dvd with higher hopes than I should have. Knowing there to be some very stunning prints of waffen ss personnel in colour from the period and available from other sources I hoped to see some of this on here but sadly not. Some good combat footage and reconaissance patrols but just didnt seem to do them justice. For the 1940s Im sure a high morale booster but for the 21st century enthusiast a sad let down. Dont take my opinion as gospel have a look yourself its worth half an hours watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read!, 25 Jun 2010
Went into this with the feeling that it would be a book on the heroic deeds of national socialism on the eastern front crushing the red armies ideologies but its so far from that! I found this book to be a truly riveting read from start to finish with a very down to earth perspective of a very brave mans exploits through hell on earth. He never tries to blow it out of proportion and gives an almost relaxed view on what must have been an horrific time in his life for him and his comrades, one can only imagine the true horrors of frontline combat in ww2. My only complaint is how short the memoirs are but still a compelling read recommended to anyone interested in this subject.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blu ray yahay!, 25 Jun 2010
Found it time to finally lay my old trusty sony dvd player to rest and join the digital revolution ie a new blu ray player. Having done my home work and compared the current best players in this price category I settled for the bdps370 and boy I was oh so right! Got the player home after a short delivery and was surprised how thin and compact it was and very stunning minimalist detail with piano black finish looks stunning with my current system. Very easy to set up and major ease of use on the operating features I was off almost straight away with disneys 'UP' to test its capabilities. Noticed people complain about the deep blacks but easily cured when 'theatre' mode is turned off which brings the colours out more and looks truly fantastic! For the price and features I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to purchase or upgrade, another winner from sony (as usual),spot on!!!
