5.0 out of 5 stars Smells of the briny, 19 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I missed the live performance at the Sheffield Documentary Festival and was pleased it was shown on BBC 4 shortly afterwards but was still keen to own a personal copy. The clips have been put together so skilfully with the perfect accompaniment by British Sea Power that I wanted to watch it again as soon as it had ended as there was too much to take in. I love it so much I have bought more 2 more copies as gifts

5.0 out of 5 stars Steel city review, 19 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this double DVD set as a gift so was not privy to its content and I missed the public showing of the films so this is a pretty inept review!
However, anything the BFI packages is going to be nothing short of excellent, I have every confidence that. It is 5*

4.0 out of 5 stars Will Proles Rise?, 19 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Will Proles' Rise (Kindle Edition)
I read this dystopian novel with my school librarians head on and found it to be an original concept from a first-time writer, but that it needs trimming and filleting before my borrowers would read it

Just Right for Christmas
Just Right for Christmas

Price: 5.59

5.0 out of 5 stars A Just Right for Christmas present!, 6 Dec 2012
I bought this book as a gift when it was first published under its original title of, Just Right and have bought it again (for a different child!)with its new seasonal title
However the story is unchanged and remains a beautiful tale of selfless giving with an eco-twist of, using everything and wasting nothing

4.0 out of 5 stars Mandela in strip!, 4 Dec 2009
I wanted this book as a leaving gift for a colleague who has been to SA many times (Lesotho) to work on a charity project.Mandela, and the journey he undertook to be held now in such high esteem as a statesman, means so much to him. I know he will read this book and enjoy Mandela's story in this unfamiliar format

3.0 out of 5 stars Student Voice, 21 Oct 2009
I bought this book to offer guidance to help run a successful Student Council in a secondary school but find, although its well-written, it's geared more towards KS2 pupils

Lulu Loves the Library
Lulu Loves the Library
by Anna McQuinn
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't you just want to hug Lulu!, 6 Sep 2006
This review is from: Lulu Loves the Library (Hardcover)
As a school librarian it is so refreshing to read a story (well any )book that portrays libraries and librarians in a positive light. You can tell Anna McQuinn is a Librarian who enjoys her job as it shines through the pages and Rosalind Beardshaw's portrayal of Lulu makes you just go ahh!

3.0 out of 5 stars Muddled clues, 10 July 2006
As a school librarian I thought this would be a great story to read aloud to the new intake of 11 yr olds to introduce them to the importance of reading. I photocopied the end-papers and, as I was reading, asked the children to work out which book Charlie was reading. After doing my third session today we all decided it was muddled after Goldilocks as the picture on the subsequent pages page didn't relate to the book for that page but rather on the next page. Puzzled? You will be! Also the pictorial clues on the spines didn't always tie in with the image on the page eg there weren't any aliens on A Country Childhood dustjacket.
