Lovely new addition to my collection. As with all the Pendelfin range the attention to detail is perfect and I love his comics on the bed. He is sitting with his new friends in my freshly decorated dining room window.

4.0 out of 5 stars A supernatural summer, 15 May 2013

This is a charming, haunting story about a family holiday with a difference.

I was attracted to it because of the reference to the paranormal and also the setting. I thought half way through that the story was a little repetitive but as I read on I could see the significance of it and why it was necessary to the plot. Past and present, earthly and supernatural were cleverly interwoven throughout.

It was drawn to a very satisfactory and poignant conclusion with all questions answered, all loose ends neatly threaded in by the author.

I really enjoyed it.

The beautiful imagery in the opening paragraphs of this short story made me want to read on, I could picture the scene perfectly.

It is the story of a woman's anguish and desire for revenge. It is dark yet poignant. Very well written and plotted throughout with an unexpected twist in the tale.

Another superb work from Brooklyn Hudson, this time a short film.

Will is stuck in a traffic jam. What strange tricks can your mind play in that claustrophobic situation - or are they tricks...?

After reading Wishbone I was looking out for this author's next work and downloaded On Call as soon as I saw it. A short, coffee break read, this will leave you wondering as you continue your day.

A superb story! Very well crafted and researched. This is the sequel to Malchediel Warrior Angel, and every bit as entertaining. We follow Amy as she discovers the N.F.F. a secret organisation of Nephilim. She learns of her parents past and goes on to follow in her mother's footsteps. As she continues to fight the forces of evil she faces many unknown dangers.

I couldn't predict how the story would end and a truly exciting climax had me enthralled to the final word. A most satisfactory conclusion yet thought provoking and moving. I think that both books would make excellent films.

If you're wondering if she meets Malchediel, her angel, again you'll have to read the book to find out!

This is a wonderful story! It has a good, even pace and as you have a question the author answers it. It is very well written and plotted and gives an interesting insight to the world of angels, theology and nephilim. For me it was reminiscent of the Harry Potter books - I read the series and loved them - but with angels and for adults. As the story progressed it also put me in mind of the priest's inner turmoil in The Thorn Birds. A superb read, I thoroughly recommend it, I've already downloaded the sequel, Amy!

5.0 out of 5 stars More laughs, 6 Mar 2013

What a fantastic summer Bev and Carol had and what a wonderful memory of youth. I've read Bev's memoirs in reverse order but this has the same amusing tone in the author's anecdotes and observations as Bunny On A Bike had. The writing is intelligent with beautiful use of language interlaced with humour. I hope that she'll write more memoirs but I'll also check out her other work which I haven't read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny Bunny!, 25 Feb 2013

Fantastic! Loved it! I have always liked reading the memoirs of ordinary people since reading James Herriot's books in the 1970s. Bunny on a Bike is a joy. I loved Bev's narrative voice, so natural and witty and some of her descriptions had me in stitches. The rapport between her and Carol came through so well I felt I was a fly on the wall of their friendship.

On a serious side it was interesting to learn about the world of a bunny girl croupier, something I know nothing about.

This book is warm, amusing and entertaining. It was so funny and I laughed so much I was still laughing when I got in bed! I'd love her to write a sequel about her life after Bunny but in the meantime I'm off to download the prequel!

Dangerous Waters - Mystery, loss and love on the island of Guernsey

4.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous Guernsey, 18 Feb 2013

Once I got into it I really enjoyed this book. Jeanne has returned to Guernsey to sort out her grandmother's estate after leaving to live with her aunt following her parents' death. In returning she has her own personal demons to face which will affect her future. It is interspersed with history of the island which enhances the story.

I spent a wonderful holiday in Guernsey in 1974 and reading the names of places I visited, St Peter Port, L'Ancresse Bay etc brought back wonderful memories.

A nice, gentle mystery for a relaxing read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unputdownable!, 5 Feb 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have always liked memoirs from ordinary people, not celebrities, and this one certainly didn't disappoint! It had more drama than a Hollywood movie and was extremely well written. Easy to read I was drawn in from the first page of his youthful escapades and from then on I felt I was with him every step of the way. I'm a slow reader but I read this in two days - I had to force myself to put it down to go to bed! A nightmare to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, I felt his desperation and discomfort seeping out from the pages. This was as good as any book published by a mainstream publisher, and better than a lot of the drivel they deem fit to publish. I'd love to see it as a film. A well deserved 5 stars.
