5.0 out of 5 stars More gorgeous baking!, 26 Mar. 2011
After successfully making several recipes from the first Hummingbird Bakery book, I pre-ordered Cake Days so I could get my hands on it as soon as possible. I have not been disappointed.

Cake Days is packed full of recipes - obviously there are plenty of cupcake recipes, but also pies, cheesecakes, whoopie pies, muffins...There are plenty of photos and the book is well laid out. There's also a chapter on baking essentials full of useful hints and tips for beginners.

So far I've made the grasshopper pie (yummy!) and the caramel cupcakes (REALLY yummy!), and have earmarked several more recipes to try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yum!, 26 July 2010
I was given this book as a Christmas present, and was put off trying any of the recipes from some of the bad reviews. However after trying a real Hummingbird cupcake on a trip to London, I couldn't wait to have a go.

I've made 3 recipes so far:

Banana loaf - I used up some really over-ripe bananas and this loaf was absolutely gorgeous - it looked just like the picture in the book.

Vanilla cupcakes - light, fluffy and gorgeous

Red velvet cake - I doubled the recipe and baked it in 3 sandwich tins to make a layer cake. I followed the amended instructions on the Hummingbird Bakery website, and the cake turned out fantastically well, and tastes lovely too.

So far I'm very pleased with this book; as other reviewers have commented it's a lovely book to look at too - true food porn!

Dyson DC25 Animal Lightweight Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner for Pet Owners
Dyson DC25 Animal Lightweight Dyson Ball Upright Vacuum Cleaner for Pet Owners

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it love it love it!, 8 Jan. 2010
I have a very very hairy dog, and cream carpets - not a good combination. My previous vacuum cleaner, also advertised as being for pet owners did not touch the dog hair stuck (like glue!) to the carpets, which meant having to scrape the hair up with a brush every couple of days.

I have had my DC25 for 2 days now, and am amazed at the difference. It picks up the hair with no problem at all; the dust bin is full of both hair and sand/dust - I am disgusted at how dirty my house was lol!

Having been used to a cylinder cleaner, the ball mechanism has taken a bit of getting used to, but I find it steers around furniture with no problems at all.

If I had to criticise my lovely new machine, if anything it seems slightly over-zealous when I hoover vinyl flooring, the suction is that strong it's sometimes quite hard to push. But a very very small price to pay for a lovely hair-free house.
