The Emerald Planet: How plants changed Earth's history
The Emerald Planet: How plants changed Earth's history
by David Beerling
Edition: Paperback
Price: 6.29

4.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating discovery, 3 Dec 2011
With many insights on new knowledges about paleobotany, it was a very enrichment reading with lot of surprises (for someone outside of these matters) and a large sprectrum for new accounts on a global understanding of many branches of science.
Recomend to all that like to know what science is doing to a better understanding of our plantet.

Since 2000 i learn a lot about 'Modern' Bayesian Theory; but reading this book was an historic tour about a simple idea - 'the future is something like the past plus a bit of objective data' (ok, i'm simplifying it!!!) that putted anyone in trouble; even knowing something about the history of Bayes Theorem it was a surprise to read about the stories about it; remembered me what i learned about Quantum Theory and the Science of early XX century.
Even with scientists the prejudice is common, specialy with simple ideas. Ideas that work, because they forget that science is an human activity.
