The Coral Island: A Tale of the Pacific Ocean (Top 100 Childrens Adventure Novels)
by Robert Michael Ballantyne
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.00

1.0 out of 5 stars If you don't mind rubbish formatting!, 26 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The typeset is awful. It has clearly been printed without first being formatted for the paper size. Every so often, there is a grey box that appears in the middle of the text, "Please do not inline Project Gutenberg images. See:..."
The chapters start in unusual posititions down the page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great utility watch, 29 July 2013
This is my second watch of this type. The first was great. The only drawback is that the strap broke twice - it seems to be the weakness of the model. But for the price, I certainly cannot complain - fantastic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality ok - style description questionable, 29 July 2013
The quality of the shirt is fine.
The description of the shirt is that it is a slim fit. If its a slim fit then what's the regular like? I find it very baggy around the stomach and waist region.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vango Mirage 300 - Does the job competently., 21 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Vango Mirage 300 (Misc.)
I chose to try out my new tent in the lake district on a week long camp. I was the only occupant and found I had plenty of room for all my kit and lots of room to spare. I would say that two people with backpacks would be quite comfortable in this tent. The tent isn't too low considering it is made to be compact.

The weather turned nasty halfway through the week and the rain lashed down for 3 days without abating; in addition, two of these wretched days had near gale force winds.
The tent stood up well to the frightful conditions and only the occasional guy adjustment was required. No leaks or absorption of water.
At the end of the ordeal, a bend in one of the alloy poles was the only sign of the stress the tent had endured (obviously alloy poles have less flex in windy conditions than their fibreglass relatives - the downside seems to be that eventually some give is demanded if it isn't forthcoming!)

Overall, I was quite satisfied with performance of the Vango Mirage 300 - a competent and comfortable tent.

(Delivery was prompt too!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, 25 Mar. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you want to know more than just the barebones about comics then this is the right book. An intelligent and creatively visual book that, if nothing else, makes you not just want to but NEED to produce comics of a higher standard.
Five stars! Well done Scott!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Action-filled Read, 12 Jun. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The first three installments included in Midshipman Bolitho are entertaining in an action-filled way. The three short novels follow the life at sea of a teenage midshipman from a family with a significant naval heritage and the development of his skills and resume as a potential officer.
The stories include battles with pirates and smugglers but are written in an informative and flowing manner. The author has extensive knowledge of the sailing vessels of the the time and the naval procedures.

I would recommend this book as an undemanding read that is, nevertheless, interesting and well-constructed.

Sony DCRSR37ES Handycam Camcorder With Built-In 60GB HDD (45hrs)
Sony DCRSR37ES Handycam Camcorder With Built-In 60GB HDD (45hrs)

4.0 out of 5 stars Well Built (really, really, maybe too compact) Travel Camcorder, 4 July 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Sony HandyCam HDD DCR-SR37 is well built piece of Sony techology. It is a true compact camcorder (it literally fits in the palm of my hand) with default automatic focusing which can be changed to a semi-manual mode.
Its 60x Zoom is suprisingly effective on such a small camera although this is almost impossible to use without a tripod.
The camera size makes it susceptible to shaky video production. It takes some practice to zoom in any degree and, at the same time, prevent the camera shaking while you operate the buttons.

One thing I particularly liked was the touch-screen operation which is more efficient than actual buttons - But I thought that the interface could possibly be slightly more user friendly, its okay, but not brilliant (If you're clever enough to build an HDD camcorder with all its trimmings then surely you can design a fantastic interface?).

I was a little disappointed with the picture quality. I had an old tape Canon camcorder about 15 years ago that produced a better quality - it must be the digital format!?

Oh, yes, I purchased an NP-FH70 battery pack to replace the rather ridiculous battery they ship the camera with.

Summary: A marvellous TRAVEL camcorder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Capo, 25 April 2009

This capo does a competent job. With its strong spring and comfy grip, it allows you to easily attach, slide and remove the capo from the guitar.
You have to admit - it looks pretty good too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Explanations and Examples, 10 April 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As a multi-subject primary school teacher, I was looking for something to refresh my memory of KS/2 Mathematics. This book has all of the essential topics that need to be covered for Common Entrance.
It included problems with explained solutions and self-tests in each section.
It would be prudent, however, for UK students to be aware that this book is written in the USA and consequently has been written with American students in mind so there are some small differences.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, 10 April 2009

This guitar stand is easy to assemble and does the job of holding my 12-stringed guitar with ease. Although it is quite steady, I would be more comfortable if the stand had a longer rear leg - as a good bump would tip the stand and guitar over backwards.
Overall, the stand is good value for its price.
