I love this album. its much much better than Prometheus, much more kickass with the riffs whilst still keeping the black metal atmospherics.

4.0 out of 5 stars really good, 22 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
this album is ace.
the last track is 13 mins long and still not long enough.
some excellent musicianship and wonderful vocals. if you like heavy metal this is an album worth getting.
its not the blackest of black metal albums, but don't let that put you off.
if there had been a couple more tracks of the same quality this would have got 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars a lot better now then when first released, 26 Dec 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
when i first got this game i was very disapointed. it always crashed and froze or got disconnected. all the reviews stated this.
however nearly all the problems seemed to have been ironed out and i can now play this for hours without any problems. great.

and the game is actually really good. at first it i compared it to mw2. initially i thought the graphics on mw2 were better but after a little playing it becomes harder to critcize black ops. the game play and graphics appear smooth.

really enjoy completeing the contracts and playing for cod points, and the way you have to accummulate points to buy weapons is a nice little twist.

overall the multiplayer is really good.

the single player is ok. not as good as mw1 or mw2. the plot is a little hard to follow. the cut scenes are a little long. sometimes gameplay is a little too frantic, with no real skill involved, sometimes it is possiable to run through levelwithout firing a shot. but it is still fairly enjoyable on the whole.

zombies: played it a little bit. ok. no real surprises, just like previous offerings.

overall a good game.

if the single player mode had been a bit better

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant, 19 Nov 2010

this album is simply fantastic. except a dubious cover of police's message in a bottle. some folk have critizisd it for being rap metal, but there is only two songs that could fall ito this catagory, and they are both awesome, like the rest of the album.

2.0 out of 5 stars buy anyother machine head album, but not this., 19 Nov 2010
This review is from: Supercharger (Audio CD)
I managed to get a copy of this a day before its release several years ago, and was very excited to get home and listen to it. after several listens i was soon disapointed. A couple of tracks were stand out, and actualy quite good. Alas the rest of the album was poor, watered down rubbish. Not a patch on the raw brutal machine head i was expecting.

Fast forward about a decade or so, i decided to get this album down off the shelf (where it was collecting dust) and give it a spin.

So whats the purpose of this review? simple! to stop other people parting with their hard earned cash for a sub standard album. All i can say is that time has not improved this album, and all the disapointment i felt the first time round came rushing back.

buy burn my eyes, the burning red, through the ashes of empires or the blackening instead. disapointing these are not.

4.0 out of 5 stars probably not an album for everyone, 29 Oct 2010
This review is from: Tab (Audio CD)
this is not a collection of songs as can be found on conventional albums. its a a epic journey based around repetative riffs and weird screaming sound effects. first impressions are that it is rubbish. but if you have the time and patients to listen to it, without expecting to hear actual "songs" it starts to make sense. and then after a bit longer it starts to make more sense. and eventualy it becomes quite absorbing.
however, although i like this album i would be disapointed if i watched them play a live gig and this was the only material that they played.
some fans might argue that this album needs to be complemented by smoking pot, and to be fair it does sound like a soundtrack to somekind of trip. I think this album is something probably reserved for more extreme MM fans as oppossed to the casual listener.

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely ace., 20 April 2009
this album rocked me from the very first listen and still has the same affect 10 years latter. big fat chunky riffs and great beats. it has bizzare mix of 70's heavy metal and disco, in fact it sounds a little bit like black sabbath if they had just dropped a few pils before recording their albums. every song is a winner, there are no fillers on this disc.

Welcome To Sky Valley

5.0 out of 5 stars the holy trinity, 10 Feb 2009
This review is from: Welcome To Sky Valley (Audio CD)
kyuss released 3 masterpieces. 'blues forthe red sun', welcome to sky valley' and '...and the circus leaves town'. these three albums are the holy trinity of the stoner rock genre. and welcome to sky valley is probably the best of the lot. canyon sized riffs and blissed out grooves. it even comes with instructions - 'listen without distraction' get this record and play it again and again until it makes you weep with joy. you will only regret not buying it sooner.
