2.0 out of 5 stars Chocolate teapot, 1 April 2016
In principle a great idea but in practice a bit of a chocolate teapot. First of all it is massive and with all that bulk you would expect it to be well insulated. It isn't! Drinks go cold only marginally slower than in a cup; you can feel the heat radiating through the shell within minutes of filling it.
It is difficult to drink from and when first filled you are at risk of scalding yourself if you are not careful because it is difficult to judge when the liquid is actually reaching the spout. But as previously mentioned it doesn't stay hot for long so if you wait that becomes less of an issue. The sucker system is great providing you are on a smooth CLEAN surface. The slightest amount of dust, a stray hair or a less than glass smooth finish and it does not grip at all. Todays impulse purchase tomorrows car boot sale.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just the job, 13 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Works as well if not better than a product costing three times as much that we used to get from our local pet shop. The smell is pleasant, not overpowering and keeps our Bearded Collie's coat in good condition. If it can cope with a Beardie it can cope with anything.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, shame about the execution., 13 Dec. 2014
A lot of reviews are glowing but I suspect that they haven't had it for very long or the conditions in which they use it are not very demanding. We have had one now for about 18 months; we bought it specifically because we have two dogs. It looks smart and in ideal conditions it works OK. but it needs a powerful cleaner to turn it. We have a 1400 watt VAX C90 Mach5 cyclonic vacuum cleaner and this only just copes. Unless you have a short haired breed of dog the hairs quickly build up on the brush bar and stop it rotating. Other reviews have said that providing you clear the brush it works OK. This is partly true but due to a design fault the long hairs somehow manage to get past the inner flanges on the removable brush sections and proceed to wrap themselves around the metal shaft. There are circlips on these shafts and the hairs wrap themselves so tightly around these clips that they form a solid block that is difficult to remove. This build-up completely stops the brushes and requires frequent removal which is a real pain. Another weak area is that it will only work on certain types of carpet. Anything with a longer pile easily stop it and it barely works on rubber backed carpets such as Turtle Mats. The final Achilles heel is the build quality. The design is not beefy enough for the knocks it will inevitably get in use and the mouldings around the screws that hold the two halves together are breaking up on ours with the inevitable result that the unit is falling apart. We also had the previous model and that lasted about 12 months before the swivel fractured and it did not work well. The plastic thickness in the high load areas was the bare minimum and not up to the job. We also have a Numatic Hairobrush and whilst not perfect, it works much better under all conditions than the Vax offerings. It is over 2 years old and so far has proved to be as solid and bombproof as all the other Numatic products we have experienced.

3.0 out of 5 stars Expensive way to cook., 30 Nov. 2014
It is one of the better Halogens but so it should be because it is at the upper end of the price band and the digital controls are a nice feature, HOWEVER you should be aware of one important fact. Argos sell it but basically have no interest in its serviceability.
From past experience of other Halogens I know that the bulbs have a finite life of about 18 months to 2 years subject to the frequency of use. Knowing this I asked Argos about the availability of replacements and they were less than helpful. Finally after much pushing they gave me a suppliers name. As expected the bulb went at 20 months and when I contacted their recommended supplier I was told that they had never dealt with Argos nor stocked the bulb. I eventually managed to source a bulb elsewhere but unless you are a very competent DIY electrician they are very tricky to fit. You must be prepared to carry out some modifications to fit a replacement bulb otherwise you might as well throw it away. I give it three stars because it is a good product whilst working but be prepared to junk it when it has still got lots of life in it simply because the bulb has worn out. This makes it an expensive proposition and blows away the electricity costs that one saves during it brief lifetime. I think they are a brilliant concept and a simple re-design would change the whole situation but perhaps Argos would rather sell you a new one. Kind of makes a mockery of the energy saving vibe that surrounds Halogen ovens.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bissel Powerbrush; Doesn't live up to the hype, 31 Oct. 2012
At first sight seems a decent bit of kit and sounds good in theory but beware. The design is very poor and all the convoluted little pathways soon become blocked and are difficult to clean out. We have dogs and despite a thorough vacuum before using the Bissel it picks up odd stray hairs and these soon block the filters and get stuck in the cleaning head. The valve that selects between floor or hand nozzle quickly becomes a repository for grit making it difficult to turn and the grit grinds away at the plastic. Once again the poor design makes it almost impossible to clean. TRY and get spares. They are prone to snapping both brush and pump belts. Buy one to fit yourself and it is the best part of £10 for something that would cost Bissel no more than a £1. The interior design is a pigs ear and they are difficult to fit. Leave it to an agent and you are out of pocket to the tune of £40. To sum up; poor design, rip off spares and doesn't actually clean that well. Went and bought Numatic and it knocks spots off the Bissel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality that lasts, 11 Mar. 2012
I have two pairs. The first is fifteen years old and was resoled about 8 years ago by Brasher and came back as good as new. The second pair were bought about 7 years ago and are just starting to get thin on the sole. They were purchased because I didn't expect the first pair to go on forever but that is just what they seem to be doing. Alternating between the two pairs I wear them almost daily but give them a quick polish and they both still come up like a new and the linings and all the fittings are still in good condition.... literally nothing has gone wrong with them and they are impressively comfortable. Although expensive to start with their lifetime costs are actually peanuts given their longevity and they shown no signs of turning up their toes just yet so my comment is "Bravo Brasher, its a pity that not eveything is so reliable".

5.0 out of 5 stars Halls greenhouse screw hooks, 10 May 2011
This review is from: Greenhouse Screw Hooks x 10
These are the sturdiest hooks I have come across and the simplest to use. They will hold the heaviest hanging baskets with no problem and are as strong as the metal crop bolt fixings but much easier to fix and move about. I regularly adjust the height as the plants in the baskets grow and need more headroom and it takes but a few seconds. Been in use for 6 + years now and still going strong with no sign of plastic fatigue. Excellent product.
