Having bought a few Bob Marley DVD's over time, I can honestly tell you that if you buy this one, you will not be disappointed. Fabulous tracks and "videos" (Is This Love is wonderful) and a good documentary which follows on after. Well worth the money. Bob's truly vibrant and captivating performance will make you love and miss him even more (if that's possible).

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Excellent, 2 Aug 2010
This review is from: Bob Marley - The Lion [DVD] (DVD)
A truly excellent documentary, this is one of the first Bob Marley documentaries in over a decade to include new never before seen footage of the great man. The film does include clips from older Bob documentaries but most of the content is new.

The film gives great insight into Bob Marley and his life, with interviews from his ex-girlfriend Esther Andserson who speaks about her life with him, which was a very happy time for her. She tells us about how the last 3-4 years of his life, after he had his toe injury during a football match, how the people around him didn't care for Bob as much as they could have. She explains how the people with him should have given him more help (one person in particular she was very angry with) and persuaded him to get professional help for his toe wound, his bandages stayed on for several years. Bob did get some treatment in Bavaria but this treatment was not recognised by western medical professionals, and Esther describes it as a sort of cowboy treatment he received out there. An artist of Bobs magnitude surely should have been receiving only the best medical care at this time. As we all know, sadly, the cancer spread from his toe to the rest of his body and caused his tragically premature death.

Overall i'd give this documentary 5 out of 5. It has to be one of the best Bob documentaries out there right now, even though the dvd has received very little publicity this does not mean it's not good, if you get the chance to see it then make sure you do, plus u get the pleasure of listening to a Bob Marley CD which has the usual compilation tracks.
A Great film...........

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!, 24 July 2010
This is a truly awful dvd. it looks like a child has put it together. Avoid at all costs. It's one of those bootleg type dvds, i was really looking forward to it and now its gone in the bin. Just old stuff that we've all seen a thousand times before. The best bet if you havn't already got them is the "filth and fury" dvd and the recently released "Sex Pistols Agents of Anarchy" dvd. Avoid at all costs and don't waste your money on this cobbled together old tosh. This is an insult to the Pistols.

1.0 out of 5 stars Honest Review, 24 July 2010
A total con. Slapped together, really disappointing and amateurish is my honest opinion. Very poor and not worth the money. Boring, cobbled together seen before footage that amounts to very little. The backing music is awful and an insult to the band. Nothing here you can't already find on you-tube. Give this a wide berth and don't waste your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb - A Must See For Any Punk Fan, 24 July 2010
This is amazing, all those TV bits you remember in crystal clear dvd clarity, even on my 50 " plasma. I was engrossed straight away. I was late for work it was so compelling. There's stacks of unseen clips I've never seen before - the John Lydon interview when he splits with The Pistols is classic. Brilliant!!

Cracking footage old and new. Really emotional stories from Steve Dior who was with Sid the night he died, plus great new interviews with Glen Matlock and Mojo writer Kris Needs who shared a squat with Sid. I thought I'd seen all there was to see on the Pistols, then someone comes along and digs out all this old archive footage and interviews from THE most entertaining band on the planet. Also features a compelling new interview from The Damned member, Brian James who toured with the Pistols across the UK. I strongly recommend this.

A very happy Pistols fan
