1.0 out of 5 stars Dismal, 8 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
So cheap I ordered despite the bad reviews. Let me be absolutely clear about this: if you are going to a Planet of the Apes party this is perfect. If you are going to a 50s / Elvis party look elsewhere, this will NOT work - unless you are dressing up as Elvis going to a Planet of the Apes party (although he may have died before Planet of the Apes came out).

2.0 out of 5 stars Jug OK but unremovable stickers, 30 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a metal jug and as such is fine.

However, I strongly object to being sold things that are covered in stickers that won't come off without leaving glue all over the place. I have soaked it in warm water and even run the jug through the dishwasher and it hasn't come off.

My message to Kitchen Craft is show a little respect for your customers and get rid of these ridiculous stickers. I will have to resort to white spirit, which shouldn't really be necessary.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ordered 2, sent one back, 14 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I ordered two of these, which have been sitting side by side on my desk for almost two hours. One shows 18.7c and the other 19.3c. OK, I suppose. Less impressive is that one shows 64% humidity and the other 10%. I will send the latter one back and probably buy a slightly more expensive replacement.

Another design flaw is the fact that the Reset and Celcius/Fahrenheit buttons are located behind the kick stand. I have so far been unable to click on them as they are recessed so deep (e.g. impossible with a ball point pen).

Finally the instructions have been Google translated from the Cantonese. I did figure out how to set the thing quite quickly, but if you rely on the "manual" forget it.

They Call Me Trinity/Trinity Is Still My Name [DVD]
They Call Me Trinity/Trinity Is Still My Name [DVD]
Dvd ~ Terence Hill
Price: £11.03

1.0 out of 5 stars Dismal DVD quality (not a criticism of the original films), 14 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought these for a nice nostalgia trip with my Dad, with whom I enjoyed these brilliantly ridiculous films many years ago. The films are still good for a laugh, but these DVDs are an absolute disgrace. They are like pirated copies. There are no menu options like scene selection, let alone bonus features. Even worse are the picture and sound, which are more like what you would expect from a well-used VHS tape that has been stored for 20 years in a damp garage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great with my ipad, 2 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Plugged this in using the (overpriced - but that's a different story) Apple camera connector kit, opened Garageband and was able to play the keyboard sounds straight away. Simple and effective. The keyboard is very small but seems well put together. As I am a guitarist this is fine for fooling around with Hammond sounds etc.

1.0 out of 5 stars Faulty media playback (stuttering), 1 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have the same problem described in the amazon.com review below, despite the laptop's Intel Core i5-2410M 2.3GHz and 6 GB of RAM.

http://www.amazon.com/review/R8D8X6SAS02IZ/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R8D8X6SAS02IZ

The sound stutters and buzzes when playing music or videos (e.g. youtube, mediaplayer). Unfortunately I was too busy to get round to trying to get it fixed within the warranty period. However judging from other people's experience I wouldn't have got very far.

I won't be buying another Lenovo product.

The keypad is nice (although the delete button is in a funny place and keeps falling off). The screen quality is poor but I guess you need to pay more for a really good screen with a similar processor etc.

Update: flickering screen and now wifi has started malfunctioning (disconnects and needs resetting regularly), other devices in same room keep their connection fine.
Update: DVD-RW drive has failed, graphics card malfunctioning (2014) this has been a rubbish experience. The screen resolution is pretty poor too.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed and slightly fed up, 9 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I returned a set of Shure SE215s (great sound, but design fault with detachable cable causing cut-outs) for these. I am now fed up with expensive earbuds and would recommend going cheap. Here's the good and bad as I see it after a few months owning these Phonaks:

Good
- Decent construction
- Sound quite good when working properly
- Lightweight
- Phone calls and cable remote (track skip etc) work well

Bad
- Sound filters are a silly gimmick. They are seriously affected by moisture (e.g. morning commute after shower, gym etc) and end up blocked. Extremely fiddly to replace and ultimately costly if you want a steady supply. I have removed them completely.
- For this price, Phonak should supply several sizes of the comply foam tips to try (you just get a pair of mediums, whereas you get 3 sizes of silicon tips). The replacement comply tips are specific to this model and very expensive for what they are.
- I find them hard to fit properly (Vs the Shures which fill your ear cavity) and there is ZERO bass without a perfect seal.

All in all, these are not good value at all, especially if you end up buying a series of replacement sound filters and foam tips as recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars Shure SE215 cutting out, 24 Jan 2012
I took the plunge and upgraded to these from a similar, but much cheaper Shure model (SE102). I have been very disappointed.

First the good: when they're in, and stay in, the sound is great - powerful and neutral. They look solid, with a thick and long (too long?) cable. I bought the CL clear model, which is identical to the black in other respects.

Now the bad: getting them to fit is a pain, and even once properly adjusted (you have to bend the last stiffer couple of inches of cable round your ears and choose the right tips) they easily fall out or simply move enough to ruin the sound isolation. I find myself constantly adjusting them when walking, let alone running. All this I could live with, but I am now attempting to return them after 3 months as the right side keeps cutting out. Shure have designed these with a cable that plugs into the earpieces, a very good idea in theory but not in practice. The slightest head movements cause the sound to completely cut out on the right side, which is completely unacceptable. Reviews on the web indicate this is not an uncommon problem with this model (e.g. on amazon.com).

As a fan of Shure's SM microphones I really wanted to like these...but no.

Update: I bought these via Amazon from DAQ, who Shure now tell me are unauthorised to sell their products and are refusing to honour the warranty.
Latest: Amazon have offered to take the earphones back for a refund.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just found mine in the washing machine, 27 Sep 2011
I had been looking for my USB stick for several weeks and found it in the washing machine. It must have been through a number of wash cycles. It didn't work at first but has now recovered, which I think is pretty impressive. I'm also mightily relieved as it has all my Roboform passwords on it.

Yes these are stiff to insert, but have the advantage of being very small and solid. I have small kids and have had a couple of USB sticks pulverised as they knock into them sticking out the side of my PC. It's also been recognised by any PC I've tried.

I've had this one for a couple of years at least - perhaps I've been lucky.
