5.0 out of 5 stars Get a size larger!, 26 Dec. 2014

This is beautifully made and styled - the fabric is very good too. However, I purchased the extra large size but it would only have fitted a size 12-14. So I would recommend that when purchasing this item, choose one size larger than normal. Unfortunately extra large is the biggest size, so as a size 16 it didn't fit. I gave it to a friend who is size 12 and she is delighted with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars I am extremely disappointed to have paid £10, 30 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The title of this book , the front cover and the Amazon description is very misleading. It is not a cocktail recipe book - it contains only one cocktail , which is on the last page and DOES NOT contain recipes for Hot Gin, Rhubarb Champagne or Alnwick Rum etc., as shown in the Amazon description. It is written mainly in 'Olde English' and the ingredients are mainly unavailable or unknown today. It also deals in industrial quantities of ingredients hundredweights and gallons - 12lbs raisins, 12 lbs sugar etc. It doesn't even have an index. IT IS NOT A COCKTAIL RECIPE BOOK. This is essentially a curiosity, or of the social history genre. The recipes are for wine, flavoured waters, a couple of cordials, mead and lip balm. I am extremely disappointed to have paid £10.00 for this. Amazon should revise the content of this book. If you are looking for Cocktail Recipes, don't buy this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring, 13 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is presented in a very boring format - close text and no drawings, photographs or other embellishments. Additionally it appears to be American and their experience of the war was very different to the British. The recipes call for things that couldn't possibly have been available in Britain at the time and, of course, the ingredients have American names - difficult enough with modern day recipes but who knows what the translation was back then? It doesn't leave you with the feeling that you'd like to cook any of the dishes it contains.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative, 13 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This small book is packed with information and photographs, not to mention tips that it would take years to find out for yourself - like the best places to park, how many stalls in a Market at different times of the week or even different times of the year. Really makes you want to book your tickets to Paris.
