5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, 11 Mar. 2014

I found this book very, very illuminating. Aslan's writing style is succinct and his explanations are very clear - found this very important as this is the first book I have read about Jesus and the era in which he lived. Aslan also describes the historical events very well, casting a new light on a period in history that has been shrouded in superstition and lore these 2,000 years. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful pictures, printed on quality paper. I only wish there were more Pre-Raphaelite calendars around for a greater selection of artwork!

Great headphone, just as described. Sound quality is very good considering the price I paid. The wires are a little thin though - but apart from that, I have no complaints!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fascinating Man, 20 Feb. 2013
Having very little knowledge of Da Vinci and Renaissance Italy in general, I found this book easy to understand and entertaining to read. In places, the biography almost reads as a novel and, during these moments of lovely descriptive narrative, I found the book at its most enjoyable. Although I found some parts lagged in the middle, I feel this book really encapsulates the brillance of Da Vinci and his work. The writer's use of small excerpts from the artist's notebooks very much brings the man to life and -as the blurb reads- 'illuminates the man behind the enigma'.
