This book does exactly what it says on the cover and gives you a great range of different pies and puddings to satisfy all tastes.

I was particularly impressed with the start of the book which gives you instructions on how to make all of the pastries outlined in the book with stage by stage pictures. I'm very in-experienced with making pastry so this has been a great help.

I would totally recommend this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great selection of recipes for all skill levels, 26 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Fantastic book with a huge array of different recipes that are outlined nice and simple so all skill levels are catered for.

I particularly like the section for 30 minute dishes as I prefer the quick and tastier stuff to the prep for 5 days in advance kind of things!

Totally recommend to anyone looking to expand their knowledge or purely looking for inspiration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great plot and atmosphere, 25 Mar 2014
Really enjoyable game, fantastic story line which really draws you in much like the other Bioshock titles.

The world you navigate is colourful, full of intrigue and very engaging.

These days most FPS is focused purely on the multiplayer and the single player gets left behind - this is the total opposite as the storytelling is amazing and as you progress you begin to understand who you are and why you're there.

Brilliant game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing approach to the FPS genre, 25 Mar 2014
This review is from: Titanfall (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
I was lucky enough to get a crack at the beta version of the game and really enjoyed it so as soon as the full version came out I got it straight away.

I am a very novice online shooter, often getting totally destroyed on other well known titles by the cliche young person which often makes the online experience not that fun for me. I found Titanfall to be very different in that players are awarded decent in game points for assists and objective completions so rather than appearing at the bottom of the leaderboard each game you can rank towards the top by working with your team rather than just killing anything that moves.

There is also the addition of in match NPCs if you will (spectres and grunts) who are computer controlled AI that basically act as fodder for you allowing once again players of a more novice disposition to gain some extra points (you can also hack them but I'll let you find out about that!)

Titans are great fun to call in and there are a few different embarking animations which I think is a nice touch. Granted the life span of your Titan is pretty short as you become a massive slow moving target but it is rather satisfying when you get to punch into an enemy Titan, pull the pilot out and hurl them away or make your Titan core go nuclear and take out loads of enemies around you.

There is the usual sorts of game modes (capture the flag, team v team etc) which can be played directly or with some guise of a campaign but this is just for show as there is no single player campaign which I thought was a bit of a shame but overall the game is still great.

Downsides however, much like COD you do get players who sprint around with the auto lock on pistol which like some of the other reviews mention can get very annoying (much like the dual auto glock players in COD in my opinion). But this is the only real downside to gameplay experience for me.

So overall, a great game, lots of fun and interesting things to enjoy particularly if you are a novice player.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great range of recipes with a very "cheffy" feel, 25 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've always liked Tom Kerridge from his shows on the BBC so when I saw this book I bought it straight away.

Overall a great range of recipes to suit all tastes and presented nice and simply making it a really good read if you're looking to expand your recipe ideas.

Despite being titled proper pub food, I found the recipes to be a bit more "cheffy" than I was expecting and that is the only reason for not giving it a 5 star rating. I love all the cheffy stuff so I'm pleased with the contents of the book, but if you aren't a fan of that kind of thing then perhaps go for something different (e.g. James Martin fast recipes).

All in all though a useful book with some fantastic dishes inside.

I'm not a particularly experienced cook by any stretch of the imagination but the recipes in this book are so straight forward and made up of a handful of ingredients making them perfect for anyone wanting to expand their knowledge.

All can be made very quickly ans easily so perfect for people coming home from a long day at work as well.

Can't rate this book highly enough!

3.0 out of 5 stars Average but enjoyable, 14 Oct 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
As mentioned the graphics are not particularly amazing and the little cut scenes are quite poor. I would imagine if there had been a bigger budget for the game some HD videos would have been put in their place with the real actors themselves. This being said most of the actual cast lend their voices to the game but are a little lackluster in their conviction.

The gameplay is linear but still enjoyable. There is a good selection of weapons, not just your usual one pistol, one assault rifle, one sniper rifle etc etc and I am particularly pleased with the fact that your pistol is just as effective as a bigger weapon. The hand to hand combat element is an interesting addition. I think if developed a bit more they could be on to something.

The lack of blood/gore is a little sad, I realise it's a 12 rated game but just a little would have made the gameplay a tad more authentic.

It's a very straight forward game that isn't exactly long, but it will certainly keep you entertained for a few hours. If you enjoy fast paced games that you can get on with rather than having to get bogged down with huge amounts of complicated side missions etc then this is for you. Combined with a wide range of weapons and lots of bad guys to use them on makes this game a nice little something to play on a rainy afternoon. Given it's price you can't really go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing game!, 26 July 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mass Effect (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
Firstly, I never had any of the DRM or Bioware related issues with this game so my review is based entirely on the game itself.

All aspects of Mass Effect were fantastic! There is plenty of action and the storyline is hugely engrosing. Please keep in mind that there will be a number of sections within the game where you must develop the storyline yourself through your interactions with characters and as such, there is no combat. I personally feel this makes the game more immersive and the combat that you do experience more than makes up for it.

As all of the other reviews have pretty much detailed the combat system and the upgradeable weapons and ammo I won't discuss them. All I will say is that during the game you will be given missions which relate to the main story line and assignments which are sub quests. Upon completing the main story quest you CANNOT go back and complete the side quests and therefore I recommend completing all assignments as they appear. Completing them will not affect the main story line. That way you can get as much out of the game as possible. On the other hand, once the main story is completed you can replay the game with your already advanced character and all of your inventory (which makes it mentally easy but very fun!)

Great game, totally worth playing!
