4.0 out of 5 stars Camel "light", 14 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A good album, very much in the vein of later camel.

The "lighter" less proggy songs dont work for me (like reap what you sow) ...its a bit too "nice"

equally, the orchestral bits should have been left out.

The rest is pure Camel, with Colin Bass`s vocal sounding very like Andy Latimer in those songs.
Not quite a "lost" Camel album, but for Camel officiandos, one not to be missed.

Korg D3200 32 Track Digital Recording Studio
Korg D3200 32 Track Digital Recording Studio

5.0 out of 5 stars seek one out, while you still can (second hand), 9 Oct 2013
This is by far and away the best affordable multitrack way to record an entire band.
Yes, you can go downt he whole protools , interface , computer route, but it will cost you.

This really is a studio in a box, with excellent preamps, decent usable on board compressors and effects .
There are 8 XLR inputs and a further 4 1/4 inch jack inputs
You could in theory record 14 channels at once if you used the optical input to give an extra two channels.

Its the cheapest way to record a live band, period.
No longer made by Korg (the stand alone market has taken a hit) but still better than any of the current breed.

You can even get an adapter (2seemy) to allow use of a full sized monitor.

I have two (bought a second hand spare) and they really are good enough to record your ep or album.
A days studio time buys a second hand model, borrow some mics and record away.

Steep learning curve to get the best out of it, but you will be up and running with the basics right away

Morecambe & Wise - Complete BBC Collection [DVD] [1968]
Dvd ~ Ernie Wise
Price: £28.90

5.0 out of 5 stars Your own personal time machine, 5 Oct 2013

This collection reminds me of being kid in the 70`s.

Anyone buying this knows what they are getting, so I wont comment on the quality of the comedy, other than to say at least with dvd I can flip over the cheesy musical guests.

The DVD transfers are superb.
I`m not sure what remastering has been applied, but the quality is fantastic.

This is one to cherish.
They really were as good as I remember.

5.0 out of 5 stars I sold the vinyl 30 years ago, 27 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I hated this album when I bought it as a 14 year old MK2 purple fan.

I really hated it.
Glen Hughes faux female responses to David Coverdale frankly made me puke.

Yes, the bass player wanting to be the lead singer still grates , but time has changed the way I view it.
If you put all thoughts of deep Purple to the side and think of this as a great early 70`s funky rock album, it starts to work

Sounds better now than it did on my vinyl

Worth getting with Burn

5.0 out of 5 stars improved with age, 18 Sep 2013
Much maligned for not being In Rock part 2 , this is a brilliant album.
I love the fact that In Rock, Fireball and Machine head are all differing aspects of the the MK2 lineup at their peak.

More freeflowing and experimental than in Rock, but all the better for it.
If anything, this album refects Deep Purple the way they sounded live at their peak (a bit jazzy and nicely loose with great driving rhythm section)

Its less straight up hard rock than the previous album, but no worse for it.

I first heard it as a tender 10 year old in 1977 when played it , In Rock and made in japan by my best mates big bro, back to back.
I was blown away and have been a fan ever since.

I got this in a 3 for 2 offer, meaning it and the "indie" box set cost me £2.50 each.

Yes, there are a few questionable songs on it , but more crackers.
Its a great nostalgia fest for people of a certain age.
Most of these I had on cassettes recorded from friends, the odd one on vinyl but I`m pretty sure that given the nature of the singles market most of us either have knackered tapes or 45`s.
Its a brilliant way to collect some really influental songs in one place.

The sad thing is , compared to most of todays X-factor/ famous for 15 minutes rubbish, these songs burst with energy.

What happened to rebellious youth?

5.0 out of 5 stars The Frond at his best, 25 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a really good quality live recording of the Bevis Frond.
Some newer tracks, some classics.

He sounds much the same as he did 25 years ago with no discernable deterioration in vocal range (remarkable as the old boy is now a pensioner)

Limited to 777 copies on vinyl, so get yours soon!

England`s best kept secret and something of a national treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars a 70`s classic, 25 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Hergest Ridge [VINYL] (Vinyl)
This follow up to Tubular Bells really should almost be regarded as its companion piece.

The only way I think to appreciate this album is on vinyl.
I bought it to keep my original copy of tubular bells company.

More of the same with Mr Oldfield playing the majority of the instruments.

The vinyl is good quality and it sounds great, with no rubbishy over compressed for CD mastering to destroy the sound.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Docs, 16 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For the price, these arent bad , but be warned, they seem to have a few issues.

Sizing is way out - I take 9 , these are marked 9`s but are more like 9.5

There is very little heel support, and there is too much leather and elastic at the ankle.

Air soles?

I dont see any evidence of an air sole.

They look like doc martens, but are really a rather pale copy.

With some insoles and heel grips they will do for occasional use, but there seem to be too many quality control issues in their construction.

5.0 out of 5 stars similar to the t.bone, 15 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is so similar in construction and sound to the t.bone sm57 copy that I`m pretty sure its the same mic.

Nice , clear, less mid based than the Shure - ie similar to the t.bone

Excellent for micing guitar cabs and cheap enough not to worry about.

So good I`ve bought a second one
