5.0 out of 5 stars Let's wait for release, 21 Feb. 2010
This review is from: Raymond Vs Raymond (Audio CD)
Things like this drive me crazy!!! how can the album be rated already when it isn't released?
One person states, "I've heard 5 official tracks"... no you havent, you have heard 5 tracks that are floating around the internet that, according to Wikipedia, are on the album (maybe I'm wrong but this happens every time someone as big as Usher releases an album)... plus if "Hey Daddy (Daddys Home)" is the first single, released etc then why is there no video or promotion from Ushers official page etc... to be fair, when Usher releases a launch single, you'll know about it.. so please stop rating this album until you have heard it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well worth buying - spoilt slightly by a sloppy ending, 31 Mar. 2009
I picked this film up having not heard much about about it before and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The film follows struggling photographer Leon (Bradley Cooper) as he looks for his big break, taking pictures of what he describes as 'the real city', but it criticized by other photographers for fleeing from high pressure situations, thus missing out on more powerful shots. On the back of this Leon follows a gang into a subway and photographs them attacking a women, who Leon then saves. Days later the Women is reported as missing and it is the investigation into her disappearance that really sparks the film into action and introduces us to Vinny Jones' character 'Mahogany'. The first thing that really struck me about this film is how visually scary it is, the cold and claustrophobic carriages housing some fantastically graphic murders along with a great visual performance by Jones makes this genuinely very scary. The acting is solid enough and the story line is better than the average Horror as you find yourself suspecting others around Leon of being involved in the Murders. I only have 2 complaints about this film. (1) some seriously dodgy CGI ruins a couple of deaths, in particular the eyes popping out of a characters sockets as he is struck in the back of the head with a hammer which just looks silly. this however is later rectified with a great scene where 'Mahogany' performs his own special hair, teeth, eyes and nails removal on one unlucky soul (not for the squeamish!) (2) my main gripe with this film however is the ending, obviously i wont give anything away but i will say this. The first 94 minutes of this film are 5 star, the last 5 minutes however really disappointed me, not so much because it is just stupid, which it is, but because it is so sloppy and unrealistic and makes the whole film less scary. Still, I really enjoyed watching this film and will do so again I'm sure. 3 stars seems a little low but 4 seems too high... lets say 7.5 out of 10

2.0 out of 5 stars Scar 3D, 3 Mar. 2009
I was fortunate enough to see 'Scar 3D' in the cinema, at the time the high quality HD 3D made this film very watchable. Without the big screen and magic effects however I feel that Scar 3D will be nothing more than a cliche slasher/blood fest that despite its efforts not to, still comes across as a poor mans 'Saw'. The good parts: the was the killings happen, to friends tied to tables being cut up one at the time, all you have to do to survive is tell the killer to finish off your friend. The gore, no dodgy CGI this looks great and a good % of the budget must have gone on stage blood. 3D boobies.... yes there are 3D boobies in this movie. Now for the bad points: the acting is pretty bad in most places making it very difficult to be genuinely scary. a young, attractive teenage cast gives it a real 90's slasher feel. It feels a little to much like a 'Saw' spin off and has a fairly predictable twist. In my opinion you should buy this movie if: you are a massive horror fan, you love gore or you are looking for a shallow movie to simply entertain you with blood blood and more blood. You should NOT buy this movie if: bad acting spoils a movie for you, your are looking for an original horror or you are squeamish. hope this was helpful to you

2.0 out of 5 stars This Jigsaw has missing pieces!!, 24 Jan. 2009
This review is from: Saw V [DVD] (DVD)
As I sat in the cinema, I could practically feel the dribble running down my chin at the prospect of being taken on another roller coaster ride of a film by the good people who brought/bring us the Saw franchise. "You wont believe how it ends!" the tag lines told us. Boy was I disappointed. It would have bad enough if this film stood alone but as part of this great franchise it broke my heart to see such a poor effort by all involved. The film starts off immediately following the events of Saw 4, The film starts solid enough with the viewers being introduced to both the guillotine and water box traps within minutes and the stage is set for the film to burst into life. Unfortunately that is as good as it gets... As the film progresses at a snails pace, we spend most of our time re-tracing jigsaws steps from the first 2 films with Strahm getting closer and closer in his quest to expose Hoffman as the apparent accomplice to Jigsaw. The acting stood out as particularly bad as Patterson (Strahm)spends endless scenes talking to himself in an attempt to keep the audience up to date with what he is thinking, this in particular I found somewhat insulting, as if the writers figured that us simple viewers could not figure out why a detective was retracing the steps of a killer... running alongside the film a group of unsuspecting victims awake to find themselves in one of Jigsaw/Hoffmans games, it was almost as if the writers got half way through the film and then thought 'Hold on, we'd better come up with a reason to throw some traps in' and although their journey towards salvation is mildly interesting and ultimately satisfyingly gorey the traps in question still don't get over the bar set by previous films. In the end Saw 5 answers none of the questions posed by its predecessors but does manage to through in a few more questions which would suggest that if Saw 6 is to be the final chapter, it will be like an episode of 'who wants to be a millionaire?' with question after question answered and room for not much else. I will of course be purchasing this DVD (for my sins) as to keep my DVD collection in tact but ultimately if you do not expect to much from the film then fans of the franchise will be sustained but if you are looking for a good plot twist and original traps then you will be disappointed.

Bad Boys 2 [DVD] [2004]
Bad Boys 2 [DVD] [2004]
Dvd ~ Will Smith|Martin Lawrence
Price: £2.64

4.0 out of 5 stars 2 good, 24 Jan. 2009
This review is from: Bad Boys 2 [DVD] [2004] (DVD)
Fans of the first film will have been forgiven for letting out a slight grown when this sequel was green lighted. In fact even the most avid Will Smith fan must have had had minor concerns that BB2 would fall silently into the sequel cliche and be nothing more than an expensive and elaborate attempt to ring every last penny from the punters left wanting more from the original. Alas my friends Bad Boys 2 is nothing of the sort and should be held as an exhibit to future generations of film students of 'How to master the perfect sequel'. Everything that was right about the first film is back, Smith and Lawrence will have you nursing a stomach ache from laughing, the action sequences will blow you away and both the storyline and direction is outstanding. As for the few negatives... some may argue that the film is a little long, others may suggest that the storyline is unrealistic, and that may be the case. If you are looking for a beautiful movie mirroring life with a realistic story and underlying message thus making you think, then you'd best avoid. If however like me you want 2 hours of nonstop action, laughter, adrenaline, explosions, one liners, guns, drugs, cars and bad guys dropping like teenage girls at a Westlife concert, buy this film.....right now
