4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for money., 3 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A good value set of earphones. Very competitive price with reasonable sound quality, although a slightly strange fit which required very careful placement to get a decent seal within the ear.

- Good bass reproduction
- Overall sound is good (for the price), but is muddy when compared with my older Panasonic RP-HJE600

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent print quality, if you don't mind waiting...and waiting.., 6 Mar 2013
This is a nice looking unit with decent print quality. However the design is marred by a very noisy creaky internal mechanism, and painfully slow startup.
There are also some very strange design limitations, such as a paper output tray which glides out automatically, however requires you to push it back in manually (against the motor)if you wish to put it away.
I cannot help but feel that the design effort has been mainly cosmetic and that underneath the shiny plastic is an inkjet mechanism that was actually designed in 1998.

Pros
- Nice ergonomic design
- Color Touchscreen
- Good print quality
- Internal paper trays

Cons
- Very slow startup (several minutes)
- Very noisy / creaky mechanism
- Some illogical design choices/limitations

3.0 out of 5 stars Almost brilliant. But only 1/2 of it works, 31 Jan 2013

Was really pleased with this item when it arrived. Well packaged, includes a Wii remote cover, and at a bargain price point.
The wii remote works fine, but the nunchuck part doesn't.

The Mathematics of Relativity for the Rest of Us

2.0 out of 5 stars Amateurish, meandering and not without error, 5 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As a fairly avid reader of books in the popular science domain, I found this hard going. Not because the subject matter is difficult (it really isn't , or at least the basic concepts certainly aren't), more so due to a confused and meandering writing style and organisation which does little to explain either clearly or succinctly.
The thought experiments in particular are poor, and in at least one early example concerning bodies moving in unison (with no motion relative to each other), are flatly contradicted by the math.
It is a pity, because the intent of the author is admirable, but he seriously needs to improve his editorial skills if other books are forthcoming.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value, mixes it with much more expensive kit, 2 Nov 2012
Purchased this as a wireless speaker for my home office. In-store sound tested against Jambox (Big and small) and the Phillips shoqbox 3700 with a familiar track (Dream Theater "Lost not forgotten").
In the store, the Fidelio produced sound quality comparible to the 260 Big-Jambox - although the stereo separation was not quite as good. So for less than half that price, the Fidelio was a no-brainer. Worth noting that the Fidelio sound quality and volume easily surpassed the smaller Jambox and Shoqbox available at roughly the same price.
Setup back home was straightforward, within 5 minutes I was up and running on my home network and using Airplay via my ageing MkI ipad.
Now I've got it set up, I am very happy with the performance and sound. Very punchy with suprisingly good definition for a small speaker. Bass is fine too, although it wouldn't fill a large room.
In summary - if you have a limited budget and a small room to fill with sound, this is the best wireless speaker that I have come across.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flotsam and Jetsam Newbie -- Wish I'd listened to these MUCH sooner!, 11 Mar 2011
This review is from: The Cold (MP3 Download)
Having spent my formative years listening to everything from Rush to Napalm death (via Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament and a whole bunch of other metal bands) I finally got around to buying a Flotsam and Jetsam record.
What can I say... I should have listened to these much sooner!

Cracking album, very difficult to nail a category.... part prog rock, part old school thrash metal (and great production). If you like Dream Theater, but want shorter songs, catchier hooks and a far superior vocalist then this is for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Part 1 of a Trilogy. Part 2 is NOT available for Kindle, 21 Feb 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A cracking read.
However the installment only makes sense if you are intending to continue with part 2 (The Neutronium Alchemist.
As part 2 is not available on Kindle, it seems pretty pointless buying this particular version........

The Kindle team really need to get their act together!

UPDATE..Since posting the original review the whole trilogy is now available for Kindle.
Highly recommended if you have the staying power (2500 or so paper page equivalent in total)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful book, 17 May 2005
I bought this nearly 2 years ago and have come back to it time & time again.
It contains large and clear photographs of all of the basic aikido techniques together with nice explanations and meanings in Japanese.
It also provides useful information on the history of Aikido, dojo etiquette and some additional pointers for people just starting out.

5.0 out of 5 stars A proper live DVD, 29 Nov 2004
Evanescence's debut 'Fallen' was my favorite debut album of the last decade, and Amy Lee is probably the best vocal talent to emerge from all of the 'nu' rock bands streaming out of America.
I did worry then that this would dissappoint, particularly as all the TV commercials featured studio versions of the songs to advertise this, a Live DVD.
Had the corporate boys at Wind-Up taken a lesson from the 'Bob-Rock' school of post production, and bleached every hint of live-ness from this? - Not a bit.
This is a full on Live DVD. Instruments and vocals have been allowed to fend for themselves in a really ballsy performance from all concerned.
The only detraction is the use of a backing track for synth noises and the odd bv. It is most prevalent during the intros, but thankfully it is low in the mix and the band really do shine through.
The band clearly enjoy themselves on-stage playing a very strong setlist, including a terrific Korn cover -'Thoughtless'.
Sure there is the odd duff note, but that is what makes it live. - Highly recommended.
