1.0 out of 5 stars Predaturds, 20 Jun. 2015
This review is from: Predators (2010) [DVD] (DVD)
Great premise/setting, but totally ruined by bad script, plot, characters...e.t.c...e.t.c.... The Age of Steel Cybermen had more balls than these muscle flexing, pouting so-called Predators. Such a waste of a threateningly frightening and mysterious alien creation, portrayed so well in the unsurpassed original. As The Hives so elloquently put it-"This ain't MY Hollywood"!

1.0 out of 5 stars F for Fail, 19 Mar. 2015
This review is from: Exam [DVD] [2010] (DVD)
The most laughable thing is that this tripe was introduced on the MovieMix tv channel with the following ad' plug...'[so+so] sponsors legendary films on MovieMix'! Exam is NOT a legendary film-it is a mess, and thinks it's far cleverer than it actually is, regardless of the possibly interesting premise. There are far too many of these dire/poorly made films around[Basement and The Innkeepers spring to mind], and they all seem to turn up on crappy terrestrial tv channels-and get repeated!-constantly!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hippy,dippy,witchey-voodoo, 13 Mar. 2015
It's bat-mad crazy, but i can't help liking this series. The clever title sequences are the creepiest scenes, but there are still some shocks to be had amidst the macabre mayhem-can't wait for Freaks!

Hannibal - Season 1 [DVD] [2013]
Hannibal - Season 1 [DVD] [2013]
Dvd ~ Mads Mikkelsen

5.0 out of 5 stars All Hail Hannibal!, 18 Feb. 2015
This 1st series is just 1st class brilliance! Dark, devous and devouring, Hannibal will shock, torment and terrify. No spoilers-just buy, and have your mind braised, basted and boiled!

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh deary me..., 14 Feb. 2015
This review is from: Basement [DVD] [2010] (DVD)
Laughable. Pure amateurish tosh, with a script written by a teletubbie? As Cilla Black once sang-"what's it all about"?!? You CAN do better, Mr Dyer!

1.0 out of 5 stars The Bore Legacy, 14 Feb. 2015
This review is from: The Bourne Legacy [DVD] (DVD)
Totally unengaging, and lacking coherency, this film bored me to tears. High-tech tosh that pales in comparisson to classics like the original Day of the Jackal. Not recommended at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars War is VERY ugly!, 4 Feb. 2015
This review is from: King & Country [DVD] (DVD)
This is an excellent film, portraying the shocking price that many young men paid for being disillusioned, mentally exhausted and just plain scared of all the unrelenting horror they were suffering. Dirk Bogarde is sympathetic and war-weary as the officer trying to defend Tom Courtenays' innocently a.w.o.l. actions, and the almost inevitable outcome shows up the war-mongering establishment for the heartless, puppet-string pulling regime that it always is. Powerful and moving, this is essential viewing for an insight into the innocents that gave their lives for, AND had their lives taken away, by King and Country. Also recommended is Pat Barkers' Regeneration, and J.C.Sheriffs' Journeys End.

2.0 out of 5 stars "Nothing like a Family Guy...", 31 Jan. 2015
This review is from: Ted: Extended Edition [DVD] (DVD)
And that's the problem with Ted-it's got the near-the knuckle[or rather the full-fist], wit that makes Family Guy a scream, but doesn't transfer to real life characters/settings very well. I think it's because cartoons can create a surrealness that is a perfect match for this kind of crazy humour. Also, Marky Mark was totally miscast-Ben Stiller would've been better...now a full length Family Guy feature-that would certainly make us effin' cry-with laughter!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Where's a gripping,taut mystery thriller? Gone!!!, 18 Jan. 2015
This review is from: Gone [DVD] (DVD)
I'm an hour into this and am struggling to pay attention-always a bad sign! It's just so badly constructed-dialogue is banal, and the script messy. For a good, intriguing, tense mystery thriller, you need so much more than this sad effort offers!
