A Mis translation ?, 19 Mar 2013
Very disappointing. I find it hard to believe the story line and it would be very easy to blame the translation but I suspect that the writer actually forgot the storyline he had just written. People who loose a finger and a toe to frostbite do not get to do what this "hero" does. I read 70% of it and kept on hoping it would get better; it did n't.

Winnie to Old Age !, 19 Mar 2013
As a wartime child books were a rarity so this book never got read until now. it is a delight! it is funny, at times very funny and awakes in yourself all those things that you had long thought had gone into a distant past. There is a lot of genius in the writing and I must admit that Walt Disney got the voices of the characters about right. Highly recommended.

An Excellent read., 5 Mar 2013
I had often started to read books written by Women but had rarely finished them....sorry to say. However, I bought this despite having read a great many adverse reviews ( especially in a "Oldie Magazine" article. It is not easy reading; it is written in a somewhat cryptic,( medieval style ?) of writing that it first made it difficult.....but persevere because this is one one hell of a good read and it is no wonder that it won all the literary prizes that it has. I am not the kind of person to go over the top about anything but this novel is as good as anything I've ever read.....entertaining, educational, adult enlightening........first class. 5 star reading and thoroughly recommended.

Monsarrat....Need one say more ?, 5 Mar 2013
I have always believed that Monsarrat's " The Cruel Sea" is the best novel I have ever read, bar none. HMS Marlborough is also a good read, with a bonus of a couple of novellas to read and enjoy too.

Worthy Prize Winner......!!, 5 Mar 2013
This is the second of the novels by Mantel about Tom Cromwell and Ann Bollyne. Although a lot of people found this a difficult book to read ( "too many characters...!") I would say to every potential reader persevere because they are well worth the effort. I thoroughly enjoyed BOTH books; both may be novels but so well are they written that you could be forgiven for thinking they were in fact biographies. Adult, extremely informative and very entertaining I would recommend both books without any reservation whatever ------recommended 5 star reading

A Class Upgrade., 21 Jan 2013
Although Windows 7 had been in service for some time, my laptop was Vista based and it served me well enough. However, I had the good fortune to have a "listening Wife!" who bought me Windows 7 for Christmas......... It is a deal better that Vista and I now wish that I had done this upgrade some time ago. To anyone with XP or Vista who is thinking of upgrading to Windows 7 do it !! You will not regret it. When doing it be patient, follow every step with care and the installation will be as easy as is possible and nothing whatever to be concerned about.

A Good Bin, 21 Jan 2013
This bin system replaced an undersink unit waste bin that had served us very well for 30 years. This fitted just as the manufacturers said, and it does just what it says on the box.......easy to fit and neat and tidy with it.

Hopes dashed !, 21 Jan 2013
We had need to replace a bathroom shower spray as the one we had used for some time went its own way. This push fit spray unit was advertised as fitting most taps.......so we bought it. The H/C connectors were well designed and had a clever velcro system of attaching the connectors to the taps, a system that would work with most taps; our taps are Supataps and these connectors just do not fit. Conventional taps would be fine and no doubt Croydex Push Fit bath and basin shampoo spray would work very well....but not with "Supataps" sadly. Our search continues.

For those who wish to be better at it......, 13 Jan 2013
A thoroughly competent guide to the Mac-Book Pro. Not for absolute beginners but certainly for everyone else. Well produced, of excellent quality, recommended.
