Something for everyone., 20 Jan 2013
I feel this is good value for the average club player who wants to keep in touch with developments. Instead of featuring back to back tournament reviews there is a broader selection of articles. These include correspondence chess, problems, chess history and endgame studies. There is more to our game than just opening theory! Regular features which can be used for practical training are spot the continuation (tactics), Endgames for experts (practical endgame analysis), and Test your chess (play through an entire master game and try to guess the best moves).Games department by Andrew Martin offers analysis and opening theory, whilst Chess questions answered by Gary Lane offers readers the chance to post their own queries. Add in Game of the month, reports from important tournaments, and a new supporting website and you have a publication with something for everyone.
