Android Netrunner Lcg: Creation and Control Expansion
Android Netrunner Lcg: Creation and Control Expansion
Price: £24.79

4.0 out of 5 stars Focused but deep big-box expansion, 7 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the first large-box expansion for the new version of Android Netrunner, and it's really an excellent buy. For £20 you get a massive number of cards, which adds some really interesting depth to the core set. This expansion focusses almost entirely on HB and Shaper factions, with a smattering of neutral corp and runner cards. There's a lot of variety on offer to build more nuanced decks within these factions, but may be disappointing to those who are more keen on anarch or jinteki. Great expansion and a must-buy for any dedicated HB or Shaper players.

Bigorre - Pyrenees NP - Ordesa y Monte Perdido NP 4
Bigorre - Pyrenees NP - Ordesa y Monte Perdido NP 4
by Rando Editions
Edition: Paperback
Price: £8.85

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitive survey maps of the Pyrenees, 3 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Rando series is widely regarded as the best (and in some areas only) detailed map of the french and spanish pyrenees. Routes and landmarks are clear, the 1:50,000 scale is more than adequate, and everything is reasonably up to date. Great maps. If you're heading to the pyrenees, you need this series - end of story.

TaylorMade Quiver Pencil Golf Bag Black
TaylorMade Quiver Pencil Golf Bag Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight, excellent quality micro bag from Taylormade, 3 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this in the sale for £19.99 and it really is a stonking little bag for the money. The only competitors at this budget end are Longridge's various pencil and sunday bags, as well as some other cheap options - none of which are known for their build quality or visual appeal. This bag looks smart, and is really well featured. It's well-made of tough thick ripstop nylon, good clasps and straps, a solid reinforced mesh-and-foam neck and thick soft rubberized base - it does have the feel of a top brand bag. There's also far more pockets than I expected - a large clothes pocket to easily fit a rain jacket and fleece, an overlying accessories and ball pocket, a soft-lined pocket for wallet/phone/keys, mesh drinks pocket, towel clip, umbrella holder, and a shoulder clip for taylormade's "Fast-Tek" accessories line (which I had never heard of, but looks neat for holding a phone/GPS) as well as a ball marking stencil. This bag encourages you to think light, and maybe leave behind some of the extra junk we tend to bring along 'just in case!'. That said though, there's loads of room for all the essentials.

In terms of comfort, the bag takes a little adjusting to sit well. I found I really had to ramp the right shoulder straps as tight as they would go to bring the bag up to 45 degrees rather than horizontal (which makes the clubs feel like they might slide out). With clubs only, it feels a little unbalanced as all the weight is up at the neck end, but once you have a full drinks bottle and a few bits in the lower pockets it balances much more easily. The double shoulder straps are quite different if you are used to the single shoulder arrangement, but it really is very comfortable once you have it on, and neatly avoids the usual neck/shoulder ache from large heavy bags.

The only criticisms I really have are that - as other reviewers have pointed out - the bag isn't ridged or fully supported for its whole length, so placing it down upright leads to the bag sliding down the club shafts. It also doesn't have a rain cover of any kind, and has no stand legs. I personally solved these issues by sewing a couple of plastic rods and the zip cover from an old wrecked bag into the lining which was easy enough and came out quite neatly, although if you're not a fan of DIY you might want to avoid. Taylormade should really add these to any future versions of this bag.

In all, I am extremely happy with this bag - it's easily got room for a reduced set (who in honesty uses every club of their full set?), and makes all-day carrying comfortable. If you are willing to go without stand legs, and don't mind leaving some of the extras behind, I can't recommend this highly enough for the price. I'm not sure I'd pay £60 for it, but at any kind of reduction it's a steal.

DodoCase - RED HARDcover Classic for iPad Mini comes with the camera hole included

5.0 out of 5 stars Elegant, subtle, refined, practical., 15 May 2013

As I have a crippling weakness for moleskine-style elasticated notebooks, this was a dream come true for my ipad mini. It's pricer than some of the more full-features cases out there, but the feel of quality is undeniable. Tactile, quality materials, attention to detail, it exudes an artisan aura. It genuinely feels handmade and natural; a lovely counterpoint to the slick modern architecture of the ipad. In looks, its unassuming and quietly elegant. It's extremely thin, adding very little depth to the already-anorexic iPad. In function, it gives good protection to the screen and corners, although less than an all-plastic fully-enclosed case. Small scuffs and drops are absorbed with ease; I wouldn't trust it to a more worrisome accident though. By flipping the ipad upside down and sitting a moderately thick book in the spine fold, you can easily prop it up at a variety of angles (other cases have this feature inbuilt, with varying degrees of stability and success). I find a book/wallet/box/other accessory is often to hand so this isn't an issue for me. No problems at all with the included adhesive to affix the case to the iPad - its amazingly strong and sturdy.

I love this case. Its simple, but special. It feels organic rather than techy, and classy rather than eye-catching. 10/10 would buy again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly slim, light, & portable, 15 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
(ultra-slim 4mm version). There's plenty of super-small bluetooth keyboards around, this one is fantastic. Bought it to use with my ipad mini. It's about an inch wider than the mini - but only an inch narrower than my full-size macbook keyboard. This makes it extremely comfortable to type on - it's nowhere near as cramped as many of the other units around I've tried. It is well-built in aluminium and solid ABS plastic, and feels sturdy enough (although being so thin, its got quite a bit of flex so be aware). Paired quickly and with no issues, and no lag. I've written a couple of 2,000 word essays on it, and have had no problems. The upper row of function keys are super useful with the iPad as well. This coupled with the mini is the most incredibly portable near-laptop-replacement I could have wanted. It weighs nothing, works seamlessly, and is a great deal at this price. No idea about battery life - I've been using it plenty for the past 3 weeks and is still going strong.

One little tip - the keyboard comes with a pack of 8 sticky rubber feet dots; if you put them on the back of the keyboard around the edge, typing in the middle becomes quite bouncy and flexy. I recommend getting some thin strips of rubber tape for grip instead, to support the centre where your fingers are typing the most.

5.0 out of 5 stars My go-to standard-issue writing instrument of choice., 28 Aug 2012
I work in a hospital, and always ALWAYS need a pen. There are never any spares, and if you do find one they're horrible and broken and impossible to use.

I've gone through phases of pilot hi-tec C's and many others, but since picking up a pack of these from Staples, I haven't looked back. I'm never without one now. Taking notes in lectures, seminars, conferences, writing in patient and hospital notes, these are really versatile pens.

Why?

They write at just about any angle, on slippery paper, notecard, uneven thick sketch paper, magazines. The ink is heavy and very opaque, and dries extremely fast to avoid smudges (big problem with the ever-popular felt-nibs). The tip doesn't clog, skip, stick, scratch or slide. The pen body is comfortable and tough, doesn't crack or split if you sit on it or leave it at the bottom of your bag. The ink reservoir is large, and lasts for a good month or two of heavy use.

It might be a bit sad to get so enthusiastic about a particular kind of pen - but this one genuinely makes my working day so much easier, and is everything I've been looking for for ages. Some might prefer a smaller nib size (1.0mm is kind of chunky) but despite my tiny handwriting, I still find the nib really easy to control, much better than any gel-rollers such as the pilot G-2 series and much smoother than a felt-tip.

Of course I always keep a rubbish, broken nearly-dead bic in my pocket as well, just so when somebody asks me "Do you have a pen?" I can pull it out with a smile, and keep my jetstream safe from forgetful colleagues.
