5.0 out of 5 stars A Captivating tale by an Exceptional author, 24 April 2015
My Review
After reading Vouloir i had a love/hate relationship with JD...a massive part of me wanted to lock her in my bedroom and refuse to let her leave until she told me what was going to happen next! But alas...i hear that kidnapping is an offence...(who knew right??)...so i waited patiently with baited breath for the second book in this amazing series. Was it worth the wait....oh yes!
Veuve has some pretty major decisions to make in this book, She has faced a lot of obstacles in the past and i'm afraid to say that she has a lot more to come. It's exceptionally rare to find a leading character that i can just relate to. She's strong, independent, she always means well but things don't always go to plan. She has a deep rooted sexuality that tumbles out in unexpected ways. Her dominate side is extreme and in my opinion helps her cope with the contrast between the tough shell and the deep, almost gooey-sweet interior that is showcased at its best with her relationship with 'The Kid'.. She's certainly managed to captivate this readers heart.
As for Jones the tattooed, commando hunk...he's every girls fantasy rolled into one package. His relationship with 'The Kid' is slowly beginning to morph to the next level and his passion for Veuve is both hot as hell and endearing in its magnitude. A tempestuous match made in heaven with hellish undertones.
JD uses words the way the Pied Piper of Hamlin uses his flute...she captivates you with melodic prose and takes you on a journey of self discovery. Her words hypnotise, and mesmerise, and utterly enthral the reader until before you know it...you've finished the book and you're left spell bound and aching for more.
Bravo JD! Bravo!
5 well deserved stars!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, touching and complex. A must read!, 24 April 2015
The Review
This is the story of Cameron Sinclair, on the surface all you see is a billionaire playboy with a little too much of everything! A little too much attitude, a little too much power, a little too promiscuous and a little too callous.
Then Michaels begins to delve deeper into his character and we discover that he is the descendant of the wolf pack he grew up in. He has no desire to become the Alpha and so when the opportunity arises for him to leave for a while...he snaps it up. This is where we meet the beautiful and mysterious she-wolf. Will Cameron decide to return to his pack? or will he ultimately choose love with the potential to avenge a childhood he'd rather forget? You're going to have to read the book to find out!
I adored this story to the point where i have found myself randomly quoting passages! It had absolutely everything i could ask for! it was funny and sweet with moments of such beaming complexity that it has left me salivating for the next book. The Characters were believable but fantastical all at once!
Very, Very well done A.K Michaels!! You have recruited yourself a new fan!

My Review
This is a story of a woman whose life is changed in an instant. This is the story of how one day can fill your heart with joy...then smash it into a million pieces. This is the story of a woman learning to start over. This is Maci's story.

God i don't even know where to begin with this story...it gets inside of you, fills you with questions and leaves you doubting your own life. How on earth would you cope in that situation? How do you move on when your heart belongs to someone else...just because they're gone...doesn't mean that your heart forgets how to love them? Then in walks Calvin...someone who makes your heart begin to beat again? someone who makes you want to hope for a happily ever after? someone who begins to breath life into a section of you that you thought had been buried along with your husband.

Now, what did i think...well, it was exceptionally well written, the plot and story development were flawless! The progression of the romance between Maci and Calvin was believable and also respectful. The internal emotional conflict Maci faces was beautifully written! I actually cant remember the last time i read something that's left me so filled with sadness and joy and a million other emotions.
Very well done Lisa. I'd love to see a follow up...little hint there...lol

5.0 out of 5 stars A twisting emotive tale of love and loss, 13 April 2015
This review is from: Against the Tide (Kindle Edition)
My Review
Megan was a young woman, completely isolated from most of her friends and her family all in the name of, what she thought, was love. She'd been in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend since she was a kid and had learnt to turn a blind eye to some of his less than stellar qualities and dealings. Whenever he was around they'd frequent a local club where she'd make eyes at the same stranger from across the room.
Finn was a deeply hurt and confused guy, his mother was seriously ill and he wasn't coping well with it. He's had a habit of internalising all of his problems and emotions since he was a child. Luckily he has a group of amazing friends that watch his back and try and keep him on the straight and narrow.
The two have an immediate and undeniable chemistry that reaches a peak in an alleyway...However, life has a way of throwing a harrowing spanner into the works and suddenly the duo are at each others throats. The chemistry that they initially felt for each other is still there but masked in a veil of hurt and muddied misdirected emotion.
The supporting characters deserve a mention here, Kyle and Harley both had me utter stitches! (I claim Kyle Lily so hands off!) There's one particular scene with Kyle that even now, thinking back, i'm still laughing about! utterly inspired! I'm hoping that this is going to become atleast a 3 book series (please Nikki?!)
I was in love with Megan's sass and spunky attitude from the beginning, she'd made some less than wise life choices but she was a genuinely relatable character that i defy any woman not to see shreds of themselves in her. She's the perfect balance of sass and vulnerability! For once, i'm in love with the female lead!!
Having previously loved 'Holding Aces' and 'High Stakes' i had pretty high expectations for this book and Ms Groom has more than stepped up to the plate...Nikki has created a tale here that will have you spitting out your coffee (wine in my case) with gut-retching laughter one minute and have you reaching for tissues the next. The emotions switch and change as quickly as the plot line! This is a clever, hilarious and exceptionally well written book from an extremely talented young author! Thank you so much Nikki!
5 very well deserved Stars!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tale of Learning to walk away from past demons, fight current ones and to strive for a brighter tomorrow., 7 April 2015
My Review
Travis Curran was a lonely and abused boy who cowered at the hands of his drunkard father and his step brother, when the abuse got unbareable he ran away to Washington DC and to the safety of a man he didn't know, instead he found sanctuary with a man whom he would later call brother. The two lived by their wits alone, struggling daily for scraps of food and searching for acceptance on the cold dank streets.
I absolutely adored the whole 'Fallen Angel' series but 'Travis' in my opinion, is by far the best to date. You get to see a side of Robert that has previously only been hinted at and finally the mysterious Travis begins to unfold!
This is a story of self discovery, of learning to grow as a person and accept help, from learning to walk away from past demons, fight current ones and to strive for a brighter tomorrow.
The bond between the two men is, for me, the biggest attraction. they're akin to soul mates and seem to have a deep rooted believable understanding of each others plights.
I'm very much hoping that the lovely Tracie plans to delve once more into the world of Travis with a sequel (of sorts) i'd love to see him happy and finally finding someone that completes him, the way Brooke did for Robert.
Thank you so much Tracie for giving us Travis. He's wormed his way into this cynical heart of mine,

5.0 out of 5 stars “People are taught to fear what's different. They think they have to question it instead of just accepting it.”, 28 Mar. 2015

My Review
Let me just start with a generalised warning here...This is a GAY romance story...i actually hate that i feel like i have to iterate that fact when in this day and age the gender of the characters shouldn't matter...and to me, it genuinely doesn't but unfortunately, there are still people that will be instantly put off by that.
Ridener has done something here that i personally believe to be a bit of a unicorn in the general indie market. She's created a gay love story that has very little to do with sex, and everything to do with the characters growth and the deepening feelings and progression of their bromance! If you're looking for smut...look elsewhere! this is a 'Hershey kisses' level of sweetness. Now, that's not to say that the characters don't face a lot of obstacles on their way to their nirvana! after all, the small town of Chartreuse that Kasen grew up in isn't exactly the ideal place for two men to be seen openly as a gay couple! Rowan was nursing a broken heart and utterly terrified of falling in love again, Kasen was a virgin with no idea what the heck he was doing and yet...the two seem almost fated to be together.
When rating a book i try and do it in a balanced and unbiased way, are there things that i didnt like about the book? sure...i was disgusted with the way the couple were treated, i hated that they were ostracised and discriminated against and that people could be so ignorant and intolerant in this day and age.....but the harsh cold fact is....this happens to people every day. There are a few grammatical errors etc in the book but frankly, you'll be too busy smiling smugly to yourself and nibbling your lips to notice.
In case you guys cant tell...i absolutely adored every single word! so i'm going to leave you with my favourite quote from this rough diamond!
“People are taught to fear what's different. They think they have to question it instead of just accepting it.”

Phoenix Rising
Phoenix Rising

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional page turner, 13 Mar. 2015
This review is from: Phoenix Rising (Kindle Edition)
My Review
Daultry is a woman for whom the simplest, basic human need is denied and tarred, she spends a year living in a world where she is denied all physical contact, and all of the comfort that said contact can provide. After her engagement is called off she is thrusted into a world she doesnt understand. A world where almost every single person she touches is followed by visions of death and pain. When she was finally at her lowest ebe and considering doing something entirely out of character, a blast from her past arrives on the scene. John is ''friends'' with her ex and his arrival marks the beginning of a journey of self discovery, torment and deep self analysis.
Enter the complex and headstrong Cody! Cody's character had moments of absolute genius, he was a trained and accomplished soldier, and yet, he struggled to control and master his erratic powers!
The two have an instant chemistry and fight their attraction to each other from the very start with funny (and yet hurtful at times) jibes. In a lot of ways, they are much more similar than you would first expect!

After the first chapter or two i found myself with more and more questions, Elise is the master of intrigue! She's created something magical here and at no point did i want to walk away from.

Exceptionally well written, the character development was flawless and i found myself begging for the next book as soon as i'd finished the last line (luckily for me...and for you...'Dark Phonix' is available now!') Thank you so much for letting us into Daultry's world Elise!
4.5 stars!

My Review
'Dark Phoenix' launches off right where 'Phoenix rising' ends, i say launches because trust me, this series has wings like the Phoenix it is aptly named after!
Daultry and Cody are slowly getting used to the protection and the deepening connection that the bond provides. Their love florishes happily for a while until the Rengalla find out in a spectacular fashion what we knew from the ending of the previous book...that things are not as they seem! (sorry to be cryptic but i refuse to ruin this rollercoaster ride for anyone who hasn't read the previous book)
Daultry has begun to come to terms with her powers and to realise that she may be able to ulitise them to help, rather than harm, others!
Elise has touched on a lot of rather controversial subjects with this book...attempted rape, the second world war and detention camps, the class system and racism, murder and torture, genocide...just to name a few but she has done it in such a sensitive and non-sensationalised way that rather than impact my enjoyment of the story...it actually added to it!
Yet again, at no point did i find myself wanting to walk away and take a break. The characters have developed and evolved from the last book in a natural and organic way. In actual fact, i find myself struggling to find anything i disliked.
Very very well done Elise! I will certainly not hesitate to read any future releases! This is one author to keep your eyes on ladies and gentlemen!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful tale of the realities of addiction, 16 Feb. 2015
My Review
This is a beautiful and heart-wretching story of the realities of loving an ''imperfect'' person, a person that has been dragged under water, and is struggling to fight their way back to the surface again.
Mullen has created a moral dilemma that is uncomfortable and, unfortunately, a reality for a lot of people in modern society. Addiction is something that isn't shoved in middle class peoples faces very often and when it is...our natural reaction as a society is to shun it. to isolate it. to keep it as far away from us as possible just in case we manage to ''catch'' it and it drags us under too. This is the story of a man that manages to see past the addiction and to see the person that is hiding inside, the scared little girl that is beneith her covers in bed, too terrified to face the monster that's just under the surface.
I'm not going to lie to you here people, this is a gritty and tough read, Of course its immaculately written (If you've ever read anything by Alisa in the past, then you know that that's just a given!) but it captures your soul. It grabs onto your heart and squeezes, you wont feel comfortable, you wont feel warm and fuzzy (very often) but i can guarantee that you will never be able to walk past someone on the street and judge them in the same way.
I implore you to buy this book, buy it and read and be safe in the knowledge that once you've read it...you've already begun to help someone! Alisa is donating all proceeds to the Austin recovery unit.
Thank you Alisa, thank you from me, and thank you for helping that faceless girl find her place in my heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ker Dukey dark with a Hershey's Bartley swirl! Perfect, 4 Feb. 2015
This review is from: Dirty Nails (Kindle Edition)
My Review!!
I'd just like to start this review by giving Ms Bartley a standing ovation! -stands and claps wildly-

This is the twisted and screwed up story of a young girl who believes herself to be in love...she believes that everything that Max does is for her protection. That he is her home, her safe place. If all you have ever known is cruelty...how would you ever know that love could, or indeed SHOULD, be any different?

Then a new guy, Sketch, turns up working for Maxwell, he has as many demons as Shay and the two have an instant, albeit slightly odd, chemistry.

Anyone who has read anything by Regina in the past will be in for a shock...this is soooo far past anything that you'd expect that you'll be knocked into a whole new world! This is raw, exceptionally dark, edgy, gritty and filled with such truly filthy fuckery that even the Dark queen herself (Madam Ker Dukey) would be proud but the Hershey's Bartley undertone still remains true!
The plot was flawless and the character development was spectacular! watching Shay flit between ''Shay'' and returning to Sadie towards the end was deeply heart warning and heart breaking all at once.

This is an un-put-downable story of love, lies murder, betrayal and finally finding redemption.
VERY well done Ms Bartley! I am in Awe
5 STARS (10 if Leanne will let me borrow a few!)
