7 PIECE FINE DETAIL FOR MODELLING. ARTIST PAINT BRUSHES
Offered by Quickdraw Stationery UK
Price: £5.25

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware, not as shown in the photo, 30 July 2015

Brushes seem reasonable quality and match the description, however the photo is of a different set. Overall I am disappointed as I chose this set as the photo included a flat brush as well as a selection of round ones. Not worth the bother of sending them back though.

I wanted a cheap, light lock to prevent my bike being 'borrowed' from a relatively secure location at work. This is the cheapest lock that I could find that has a resettable code; it fits the bill perfectly. The bright colour means that I can locate it easily if I leave it overnight on the bike rack at work. Be aware that the 10mm overall diameter is not the same as the diameter of the actual steel core - I would estimate that the core is 6mm. This lock will not prevent anyone with any kind of wire cutters from taking you bike, but it will prevent casual theft.

3.0 out of 5 stars An almost perfect product... except for the backlight., 23 Jan. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I did a lot of research before buying this and waited until the price had dropped to something reasonable. I bought it fully aware of the backlight problems which seem to affect some examples and have used it for 3 weeks with Freeview and Bluray (Sony BDV-E300).

Everything is great about this TV with the exception of Guide+ and the backlight. Please see various other reviews for the positives about picture, design, connectivity, etc.

Guide+. This is a detailed Freeview programme guide that allows you to quickly find a type of programme e.g. all children's programmes on at 1500hrs. It is complicated, but functional, however it downloads its data in a block. Therefore if the TV isn't on standby when it wants to download, it will not get the data and you get no programme listings for the next few days unless you manually download (a 40min task). Luckily Guide+ can be turned off and a conventional EPG can be used instead which is always up to date, even if the TV has been off.

Backlight. My TV has a manufacture date of May 09 and was purchase from Amazon at the end of Dec 09. It suffers the backlight bleed in all four corners of the screen. As described elsewhere it is like 4 searchlights pointing into the centre. This is not noticeable with normal digital TV, but is always noticeable whilst watching widescreen films (inc from Bluray) with black strips top and bottom. I have lowered the backlight setting to 3 (from 5) and the bleed is still occasionally visible actually in the picture during night scenes. The real annoyance is that it is just on the borderline of bearable! It irritates me (especially after giving Sony almost £1000 for a TV and bluray home cinema), but is not quite bad enough to send back...

My advice... Go and see one of these TVs in action and check that you are happy with the backlight issue, as it may not bother you. Otherwise excellent.

UPDATE: In the end I returned my first example due to the back lighting problems. However at least the problems were even across the screen on that one; it was bad in both top corners and bearable in the bottom corners. The replacement (manufactured Nov 09) was much worse! There was no clouding in the bottom corners, some in the top right and it was absolutely awful in the top left extending almost to the centre of the screen. As a result it has been returned as well, although Amazon will not send out another replacement. Therefore I have a choice between re-ordering to try and get a good example at the current price - £40 more than I originally paid, or buying something else. Part of the reason for purchase was to get Sony commonality between TV/Bluray home cinema, which ties my hands. Basically I am pretty hacked of with it all!

Good, but not perfect..., 4 Nov 2008

The light is fine and provides enough light for unlit roads. The beam consists of a wide cone that allows you to see out to a few meters, and a narrow spot out to about 15m. It has a clear ring about 1/4 of the way down the body to provide a bit of light out to the sides so you can be seen - good idea, but not enough light to be worthwhile. You can easily dismount the light to stop it being nicked, but the on/off switch is easy to knock and I suspect that it would turn itself on in a bag. In summary this is a workable lighting for rural roads, but probably not ideal for the city. Not good for offroad.

The rear light is very visible and you will definitely be seen, it is almost certainly overkill on quietish country roads. It is also quite heavy for a rear light, but this is because it has 10 LEDs and 2 AA batteries, unlike the smaller models that have 5 LEDs and 2 AAA batteries. I feel that it is too big to clip on to clothing for running, etc. As one of the previous reviewers has said, it has far too many functions; all you need is on, off and flashing (it also has random and sequential settings). This is made very annoying as it has 2 buttons, one controlling each row of lights. When you want to turn it off you have to scroll through all the settings on each row, if you press one of the buttons too many times you have to scroll through again, often catching the other button and having to scroll through that one as well. It sounds trivial, but it is actually extremely frustrating. In summary I would recommend buying a smaller rear light unless you are really concerned about not being seen in the city or want to use AA batteries for ease.

Overall - Good, but don't pay more than £45ish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth it, 30 Dec. 2005
I have had this system just over a year and along with a 40GB IPod, it has done everything required of it. It is suprisingly loud whilst still being small, rugged and easy to use. The only gripe is that the "on" switch is easily knocked whilst the system is closed and this has often led to the batteries running flat whilst it is in a bag.
I have used this for extended periods in the desert in both Africa and the Middle East, with temperatures up to 50 deg C. It has regularly been gaffa taped onto the dashboard of a 4x4 vehicle whilst off road or on dirt roads for 5 hours at a time. Although the sound quality has now deteriorated at high volume it is still fine for normal in-door use. After the battering that it has taken and the amount of dust that must be inside it I would not expect it to work at all - especially not considering the price. At £40 it is cheap enough to be used as a truly portable system, unlike all of the alternatives that I am aware of.
