3.0 out of 5 stars Best bang for your buck but you notice the low budget, 3 Dec. 2014
For £200 a Chromebook is probably the best laptop you can possibly buy, and this is a very good example of a Chromebook. It features the latest series of Intel processors that's so low power it doesn't even need a fan and, as promised, the battery life is utterly insane. You can literally leave it unplugged while you use it all day and it will have 25% left the next morning. I basically use it like my phone, leaving it unplugged all day then leaving it plugged in all night. I'm also happy with the build quality of the body. It feels very solid, there's no creaking, no flimsy feeling as you get on many other cheap laptops. It's plastic, obviously, but a high quality plastic, and not the type that leaves fingerprints everywhere either.

Of course if you're buying this you should also know the limitations. Most people only use laptops for internet, email, music, and office apps. This will handle all of those through Google's cloud services fine. The whole laptop quite literally is Chrome. You get to use the 32GB storage to save files but only in one "Downloads" folder, there's no home folder for your user as you'd expect on a standard UNIX system as such. It's pretty clear the only real purpose local storage on this kind of machine is meant to serve is temporary. But that's how it's advertised, and you get a lot of integration with Google Drive which will sync some files like word documents to your local storage so you can work on them offline then have them synced back up when you're online again. This makes it very ideal for students or businesspeople.

So far so good. So why only the three stars?

Because this thing still lags. Not all the time, not even most of the time, but if you have more than a few tabs open, it will lag just a little, and if you plug a TV into the HDMI port and stream from YouTube on the TV while you try to use the laptop to browse the net... it will lag a lot, consistently and noticeably.

This is the one thing that annoys me about this laptop. It'd be absolutely perfect if it could handle HDMI or a lot of tabs without lagging. I understand it's a cheap low power computer of course, but it literally only has one job, and that's to run Chrome. That is it! No Windows Update messages, no Norton Antivirus popups, no drivers for everything, nothing running in the background that should make it lag, nothing. It literally only runs a browser yet it will lag if you put on a YouTube video through the HDMI.

I like this computer, most of the time. With only, say, five tabs open and some music in the background, it absolutely flies, and I've not had to deal with the plethora of tech problems you expect from Windows or indeed many Linux distros at all which is very much welcome. But the fact it can't handle streaming and browsing at the same time when the whole OS is a browser lets me down.

By all means buy one, it's a useful piece of kit and does most of what you probably use your Windows or Mac laptop for anyway. It's definitely worth £200, no doubt about that. But keep in mind Chromebooks are budget devices and you do get occasional reminders of that.

Bought directly from Amazon. Put it in my Toshiba laptop. Only been using for about two weeks so can't comment on reliability but so far it seems to work fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nifty little gadget., 18 Aug. 2014

This review is from: LG G Watch - Black (Electronics)
It was a little bit of a hassle to set up (would not install the initial system update until I did a factory reset) but other than that it's been perfect. It connects to my phone and shows my notifications fine, the voice recognition works as well as it does on Android phones, and there are a lot of cool apps that let it do some useful stuff like load Wikipedia articles. The G Watch's design is very subtle unlike the Gear Live too which I appreciate. The battery charges very quickly and easily lasts two days. It is a little pricey but I highly recommend it. Once you're used to it you'll notice if you have to go without it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Shoddy, 18 Aug. 2014

It does the job but no better than cheaper options (in fact this exact same unit in white is about £2 here on Amazon) and comes with no instructions. It also doesn't really secure the hard drive well, when you move the unit you can feel the HD inside shaking. Pretty shoddy really.

4.0 out of 5 stars What you'd expect for the price, 5 Jun. 2014

Obviously these are very cheap sunglasses, but they're also surprisingly comfortable and effective at actually blocking out the sun. The seller did post them internationally from China which means it took a few weeks to receive them, but then I didn't even pay for delivery and the item itself is super cheap so it's difficult to complain there. Overall for a quid I'm pretty pleased.

Works perfectly. Don't bother with the rip-off HDMI cables you get in the high street stores. This is literally exactly the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the price they can't be beat, 23 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Amazing value headphones. I replaced my old Bowers and Wilkins headphones (which were of course a lot more expensive) with these after they broke. I'd say the sound quality is about 80% as good as my old pair. For £15 I can't be more happy with these.

My only complaint is the same as many others: the wire is far too long. I imagine this is useful for some but for those using these for phones and MP3 players while they're out and about it's a very big inconvenience. I've had to tie some of the wire into a bundle to shorten it but this makes the wire "heavy" and it makes it easier to drop my iPod.

But other than that I am very pleased with these. The sound quality is amazing, they're comfortable, and even at a loud volume I don't notice any major distortion. Highly recommended if you're looking for decent budget headphones and don't mind having to tie up the cable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best case I've owned, 22 Aug. 2013
Usually when I get a case for my phone I pick up a cheap £5 one off eBay or from a market stall. But with my S4 I thought I'd splash out on a premium case and I'm glad I did. The quality is not only brilliant, but the phone feels a lot better in my hand than it does without the case, a lot more grippy too. Not only that, but normally it's very easily to accidentally touch parts of the screen on the S4 due to how big it is, but this case makes accidental touches a lot less frequent.

This case will make the phone feel bigger but not significantly thicker or heavier and personally I'm willing to accept the slightly larger footprint since it feels so good in the hand.

A few things to note: if you use a USB cable or headphone cable that's bigger than the OEM ones that come with the phone, they might not fit through the case. This is true for pretty much any case that covers all sides of the phone. Most modern cables and headphones have smaller connectors now anyway but it's something to keep in mind.

This case comes with "jelly bean home buttons." It's not really explained what these do, but basically they're little sticky pieces of rubbery plastic which you can stick over your home button to make it a different colour. I've put the black one on my white phone and I think it looks awesome and certainly unique compared to all the other identical S4s out there. They come off without too much hassle if you decide to change it for a different colour or if you want your normal home button back later. They don't leave any residue or marks on the button that I can tell.

Speaking of customisation, you can swap out the plastic around the edge of this case for another colour if you want as well. So if you can't make up your mind on the colour you can simply buy multiple plastic sides. These do cost around £7 each so they're not cheap but they're significantly cheaper than the whole case.

Finally, the actual protection. Obviously I'm not about to test this by throwing around my £500 phone but it covers most of the device and feels solid. The front of the case is raised a little so it should also protect the screen from being smashed on a front impact too.

Conclusion: I recommend this case for any S4 owner. It looks the part, feels nice in the hand, allows for customisation, and does seem to provide decent protection for the phone. It's well worth the £20 to protect your £500 phone in a way that doesn't hinder usability or make it look and feel worse than normal as the alternative cheapo cases flooding the market do. And please, do not be tempted by the "Neo Hybrid" cases that cost half the price of this, they are low quality fakes that are bigger, uglier, and far less well made than the real deal.
