3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not for the faint-hearted, 15 May 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
IL-2 is a game which is very hard to get into unless you have a serious thing for planes. The controls are, at first glance, difficult, and the lack of instructions and interactive tutorials are enough to put off your average player (it took me about four hours to learn how to drop bombs!). However, once you get into it (i.e. scour the internet for guides on how to play it), it's a game that's rewarding and a great simulator of WWII air combat.

If you put the effort in, you'll get out an equal reward.

3.0 out of 5 stars A fairly standard thriller, 26 April 2010
I won't elaborate on the story as other reviewers have covered it adequately, but the gist revolves around a man who receives an email from his wife several years after she supposedly died in a murder.

The plot seems good, and indeed the acting is top-notch and you really feel for the characters. However, for some reason the way it's filmed makes the story hard to follow and at times overly cryptic; you have to put your full undivided attention into this film to understand what's going on.

However, this doesn't distract from the great dialogue, the good acting and the idea behind the whole thing. For what you pay, it's worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for any student of Russian, 25 Dec 2009
I've used a variety of books to kick-start my Russian; Berlitz Beginners' Russian, Colloquial Russian, and so on, but this trumps them all. It explains difficult principles with ease, slowly walks you through grammar and declension and is split into small chapters so as to allow quick reference and quicker study.

I would definitely recommend this book for its vivid and relevant examples, with its simple language and the ease with which it explains difficult grammar (perfective vs. imperfective, for example). However, I find that the vocabulary is slightly lacking and therefore I would recommend using this book in conjunction with a verb table or a dictionary.
