5.0 out of 5 stars great start, 7 Aug. 2013

i wanted to be able to see more lunar features and pick out more astronomical features in the night sky, stars, galaxys etc.. but as every novice, i didnt want to spend a lot of money to get myself started and learn the hobby.. so i decided on this item.. and im really glad i did.. the first night i tired these out, my naked eye could pick out features such as a few stars, the odd constellation here and there, as the sky was semi clouded and hazy... and then i used these and was shocked, and i mean shocked, at the views they offered.. great details appeared , so many stars and other features appeared through what you might consider a poor viewing night, and then comminucation satellites started whizzing past the field of view.. i checked if i could pick these out with my naked eye and couldnt! for any beginner interested in making a start in astronomy i strongly recommend these.. i can't wait until the moon appears so i can see what features they pick out then... for other hobbyists such as bird watchers i couldnt give a qualified opinion, but im sure for daytime viewing they would be a great starter item.

2.0 out of 5 stars a sorry tale, 23 April 2013

i love the original bionic series, but this doesnt do them justice at all.. the original series can look dated now, but they are still far superior to this effort...there is hardly any bionic action at all..which wouldnt be so bad if the storyline was gripping.. but it was rubbish.. a real sufferance

i wouldnt hold it against it the movie with it being an oldish film now.. but it still looked really dated, with nothing to compensate for it.. ie good story line, action, scenery etc

i like the bionic stuff, and sandra bullock and all.. but this is a let down.. if i were to tell the younger generation about the bionic shows.. this would be the one i would try to hide away.. lest they never want to watch another!

ive seen this loads of times and its my favourite one of them all

the moods presented here are great... beautiful photography and background music, and an excellent selection of footage frmo the apollo era, with commentary by the astronauts who come across as likeable old guys with great senses of humour

this is the best one

this is just beautiful, the scenery is amazing, and on a big screen you could almost be there on that lonely deserted island

well narrated and lovely theme music as well, and great camera techniques used

5.0 out of 5 stars now you know, 15 Mar. 2013

this series is quite old now but its special effects still stand out as spectacular

the presentation style is good, rather documentary like, as opposed to annoying loud "mood" effects and narration (im sure you know what i maen by that)

they ponder questions which have since been answered over the years and its a tickle to watch it and know what happens

its well worth a look this one and a good introduction to planetary education

3.0 out of 5 stars paintowrk, 15 Mar. 2013

if you love the apollo programme you cant help but to love this rocket

there are some errors in the instructions though , airfix doesn have the paintwork instructions right for the saturn v here, and i had to refer to photographs on goole and dvds to see how it actually was. also a couple of parts were numbered incorrectly, and some transfers were a puzzle.. where do they go? no idea?

painting the LEM was a challenge because the instruction wasnt clear either, along with the colour indications

its a great model to have around and i love it, but i think airfix have been a bit careless with the instructions on this one

5.0 out of 5 stars school run, 15 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Human Planet [DVD] (DVD)
this is a great series, giving a whole load of examlpe of how people live on every different part of the globe.. for some of us this will be a shocker.. like the chadar school run in the himalayas.. a couple of kids go along an icy river with their dad to start school.. its a life threatening journey yet they handle it like it was a trip down the road carrying your sandwhich box!

great scenery in this one as well, and john hurt is a good narrator, the kind of voice taht doesnt force you into the storyline and scenes, rather he draws you into it
