5.0 out of 5 stars Best listened to loud, so everyone can hear pure brilliance., 19 Jun 2001

After hearing 'Forbidden City', i rushed out to by, RAISE THE PRESSURE, and then realised i really shouldnt have bothered. It is true electronics efforts were half hearted.

They obviously felt terribly guilty because every second of this album has been carefully thought out and every blip, scratch and word has been put exactly in the right place.

I wasnt going to but it I thought theyd dissapoint, but this is the kind of music id been waiting for. So much effort cannot go unrecognised, this is fresh ingenious stuff.

My favourite track in 'Like No Other' for pure sing along loud pop, similar to the sound produced on the track Forbidden City, first track off Raise the Pressure.

Please buy this album because im dying to hear more of the same. Unfortunately one thing Electronic seem to be bad at is promoting themselves. This stuff is definetely original, and just perfect for summer gigs. It all sound just perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big calm, no calm response 4 this great album., 18 Jun 2001

It usually takes time for a small band with a largely experimental small but great debut to progess. The debut was trippy and hoppy and had its moments of brilliance, without being brilliant at all. Whilst this is somewhat perfect.

You dont need a summers day, you dont need to be by the sea or anywhere near a park. This is sublime and not music to fall asleep to, but allows you to dream and escape whilst being fully awake to appreciate and remember every second, every note, every word that drips like honey from Skyes lips.

Im not going to talk about tracks because they mayb big songs and it mayb called big calm but this is ultimetly one big album. BUY IT! and dont lose it, i did (im sure it was stolen!) and i mist it, alot. In fact dont buy it you wont be able to live without it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lazy days lazy tunes, after the luscious big calm, 18 Jun 2001

Reading the other reviews you may notice that those who are new to morcheeba are the only ones impressed by this album. If they were all given a copy of either of the other two albums i think theyd end up throwing this one in the bin. Its not that its really bad, but morcheeba know they can do a whole lot better.

'Looking In', is great and funnily enough could have well been a track off 'Big Calm'. In fact they probably wrote it soon after. After the first track on the album i failed to be impressed by a single track. Competant throughout and yet completely forgettable. They have tried to create a fresh summer pop album but it lands irritatingly short of the mark. I still love morcheeba, but am annoyed that a band that has made one of my favourite albums of all time, can produce one that i would never choose to listen to. There is much better stuff out there, albums they themselves have made, and they know their old school, die hard fans will not be impressed. Maybe they want an older, or younger car driving fan base. Maybe they want to pay homage to MPeople. I am sorry that those of us who bought the debut and Big Calm arent good enough.
