Well written with nicely developed characters some great humour and a good dose of thriller with some nice twists to the tale.

Well worth a read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not really a retake, 14 Jan 2012
Disappointed in this. It promised Aesops fables rewritten from a modern viewpoint but failed to deliver. The rewrites were not different enough to warrant claiming they were rewritten.

4.0 out of 5 stars I can taste the cakes, 14 Jan 2012
A great observation on life, the universe, the pursuit of bakery products and jobs.

Lulu has written a funny tale, not great literature but well worth a read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot stuff., 14 Jan 2012
Matt has a great imagination and even better he can transfer his ideas to the page.

This is the second collection of Matt's shorts that I've read and I won't be stopping.

The stories draw you in, the characters are so well developed you feel you know them. Matt doesn't give you all the details just guides you into the story and often leaves you with the feeling that you know what happened, then you think about it and your not so sure.

Read it, if you don't your missing a great talent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic style horror., 14 Jan 2012
This review is from: Creepers (Kindle Edition)
A classic style of Horror novel, reminiscent of early James Herbert or Guy N Smith.

Well written and keeps you hooked but a little predictable. Characters are reasonably developed.

An enjoyable read but nothing outstanding.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good pace, keeps you wanting to read., 23 Dec 2011
This review is from: Online (Kindle Edition)
Although the writing is not the best, it is reasonable but doesn't flow as well as a more polished author, the story is interesting.

The book has a good pace, just as I was starting to feel the story was flagging a new spark caught my interest, so I never felt the urge to give up.

The ending was a bit of a let down, there was no hint of supernatural through the book and it seemed to be thrown in as a better ending couldn't be thought of.

Overall an enjoyable book worth a read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmm, 9 Dec 2011
A reasonable tale competently written. It just lacked a little something to give it some fizz.

A few sparkles, that made me chuckle, in there like:
"moving with the grace of a man with a rock in his shoe"

The characters didn't quite come to life for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice ideas, shame about the writing, 9 Dec 2011
I love a good horror tale. It's a shame the writing doesn't live up to the ideas.

The story ideas have potential but the writing failed to make them come alive. It seems as though the author is trying to pad out the stories with excess words, rather than quality ones, as though she is trying to reach a word count.

2.0 out of 5 stars Why?, 7 Dec 2011
A nice writing style but that's all.

There is no content to the stories, they start and then nothing really happens. I can't see any point to this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Three gems, 7 Dec 2011
This review is from: Three Shorts (Kindle Edition)
WARNING Matthews writing is addictive.

Three short tales, each with a twist.

Although each story is very short Matthew has managed to create believable characters with depth. There are very few writers who can give such personality to their characters in so few words while keeping your interest. There are no dull parts to this work, they keep your interest all the way through.

One complaint I was left wanting more, not because the stories were lacking but rather that I was so immersed in them that I was disappointed to finish.
