5.0 out of 5 stars Just what the doctor ordered!, 16 Aug. 2005
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
While most TV shows these days are content to play it safe and not take risks, Scrubs breaks all the rules and in doing so, is probably the breath of fresh air needed for the industry to break free and experiment.

Scrubs follows a medical intern named John Dorian (J.D), played superbly by Zach Braff, and his friends and co-workers as they transend between being idealistic young interns, to being more mature residents.
Scrubs is set mostly in the surreal Sacred Heart Hospital, but this does not mean that it centers around medical drama. The key elements of Scrubs are the emotions that each character feels and grows accordingly. Unlike many shows these days, Scrubs has a very surreal side, these are normally encountered as JD sees the events around him unfold. These are often very humurous visual metaphors or pop culture references - and these help inject fresh humour into the series.
JD's best friend is a surgical intern called Chris Turk, who has been his roommate for a long time, throughout college and med-school. Their relationship becomes more and more stressed as they discover that working at the hospital is not all they thought it would be.
Elliot, is an incredibly fast talking, neurotic woman, who more often than not, will say the wrong thing at the wrong time.
Though the series does follow the interns, probably the best performace is given by Doctor Perry Cox, played by John McGinley. JD looks up to him as a mentor, despite the habit he has for calling him names such as 'Susan, Miranda, Katie, etc'. Despite his incredibly gruff exterior, Dr Cox always provides the right advice to help the interns get through life at the hospital.
Another notable performance not to be forgotten would be Dr Bob Kelso, the Chief of Medicine at Sacred Heart, who initially poses as a comforting grandfather figure for the interns, but soon shows his true character as the menacing, money grabbing demon of the hospital.
Scrubs is by far the best comedy around, and the way it can perfectly fuse the emotional turmoil, drama and longer running plots with fresh sense of humour really shows that is has plenty of life left in it.
The DVD comes in a slip off cover, with the actual discs in an opening box set, detailed with pictures of the cast and several X-Rays of skeletons behind the discs.
The menus feature an X-Ray board not unlike the one in the opening credits, which changes to show rolling clips from the season, and the 'Superman' full music video in the background.
The extras on the disc are pretty in-depth and give you plenty of interviews with cast and crew, outtakes, gag-reels and a music video.
The only problem which I have experienced is that in the episode selection of each disc, the actual episode does not correlate correcty to the one displayed, other people I have talked to have also mentioned this problem. But it should not really damage the overall viewing experience.
In conclusion, Scrubs is a perfect comedy that blends psyhical comedy, with clever surreal scenes, but also shows the more serious side to their lives, the show always ends with a good message. The DVD is packaged and set up in a light hearted way that really represents the nature of the show - Highly Recomended

GameCom Halo 2 Edition Headset (Xbox)
GameCom Halo 2 Edition Headset (Xbox)

5.0 out of 5 stars Exeptional, 20 Feb. 2005
The Xbox headset itself is not a bad headset, it is actually a very good one, but it cannot compete with the Gamecom Halo 2 headset.
Pros: It just looks so stylish, no headset comes near what it achieves with its looks.
It has a very unique design to it as well, although this makes it quite difficult to put on for the first time, but once it is on properly, it really is comfortable. You can really lean back and rest your head without it slipping out of position, which was a weakness with the older xbox version.
The headset simpy attatches to your ear, thus avoiding the large strap going around the back of your head.
The entire headset is very lightweight, to the point where you can forget that your wearing it at all.
A nice touch is the enclusion on 4 different earbud pieces, which means that there will be a snug fir for almost any size of ear.
Unlike a lot of other headsets, there is hardly any of the static 'buzz' sound coming from the headset, the noise is a clear, crisp quality.
The microphone has a neat noise-cancelling feature, which means that in most cases, people on the other end of the line will not hear your music playing or heavy breathing coming form you.
Cons: At some times, the sound does seem a bit soft, even with the volume up highest.
The halo 2 headset does not come with a Live communicator, the bit you stick into the back of your controller. Meaning you will either have to already have one from a previous headset, or you will have to buy one seperately.
Summary: The Gamecom Halo 2 Headset comes with a heft pricetag, but in my opinion is well worth the extra cost. Especially if your own headsets are broken or keep breaking, which is not hard to achieve. With all the features crammed into this tiny, comfortable and stylish unit, my advice to anybody with xbox live is : go for it.

I personally prefer The Punisher to most of the other MARVEL comic book adaptions, it seems a lot more mature (obviously, considering the movie s about revenge).
Thomas Jane is perfect as the Punisher, his gritty performance really represents the comic book character.
There are some very good scenes, both the Frank Castle personal side and the Punisher in his fight scenes (the Russian fight scene is well done).
The DVD is presented in a very nice way as well.
All in all, i loved this movie, and it moves right up there among the best comic book movies.

4.0 out of 5 stars "you're one ugly muther$%$£$er", 23 Nov. 2004
sure enough, this film will never win any script writing nominations, this is through no fault of the director, more of the fact that this franchise was a bit of a cash in on the two different franchises part.
When i went in to see it, i was not expecting much more that an adreniline packed fist fight between the two species with the occasional human getting hit in the crossfire. That is what i got. No surprises there. But the movie is very fun to watch, just dont hope for many humans to escape, most of them are dead after 10 minutes. But i'm not complaining, this leaves room for the alien action with some very well done fight sequences between the two.
Overall, the movie is a very good action romp, just dont expect to be blown away by the plot which has some serious holes, but nonetheless: a cracking movie!

5.0 out of 5 stars He eats his Carrots, 29 Aug. 2004
Awesome game. From the moment you descend into the dark hell that is Butcher Bay, you know there is only one way to survive - escape.
The atmosphere is second to none, from the screams of prisoners as they are beaten to a pulp before your eyes to the mutant infested sewers. The whole prison is (as you would expect) a very dirty, grimy place filled with the nastiest cons from the galaxy. But before you let them intimidate you, remember that you, Richard B Riddick are infinitely harder.
There are so many ways to complete the game - for instance, you can just go hell for leather with your machine gun in the face of a guard, you can sneak past them in the shadows, break their necks, battle in the ring for respect with the other cons - the list is huge.
There is aslo several subplots you can take, these often take the form of exacting brutal revenge for another convict who wil give you something in return and so on.
Graphically, the game is sheer class, Riddick is identical to Vin Diesel. When Riddick performs a special move (such as climbing a crate, hanging from a bar, etc) the game switches to a third person view. Unfortunately, the game does suffer a bit when it comes to graphic frame rate, when there is a lot of action or moving objects the frame rate slows down, not a major quibble, but worth mentioning, it doesn't take away from it being a class game though.
The voice acting is superb, each character is played by their respective counterpart (Riddick - Vin Diesel / Johns - Hauser, etc). Even the inmates of Butcher Bay voice well, helping to create the truly dark atmosphere.
The game is quite short though, possibly because of the need of it and the movie's release to coincide with each other. But all the side missions will extend playing time by quite a bit.
The actual fighting simulations are very well done indeed. When in hand to hand combat the left trigger acts as a block, the right doing the punching, turning the analogue sticks in different directions along with timing ti correctly will pull off combos (and yes, the use of weapons such as blades, screwdrivers, scalpels, basically whatever Riddick lays his hands on can be used). Aiming with the guns is sometimes more difficult that other games like Halo, or any of the more experienced FPS, but, that again, is a very minor quibble.
The level of gore is actually quite intense, whether it be the pasting of guards on the wall behind them after you unload on them or blowing apart mutants on the underground stages (don't forget the stabbing of inmates with whatever weapon you have on you). Make no mistake, this is a mature game. But Fun.
Knowing the story or having watched 'Pitch Black' does help, but is not neccessary. Most people in the know, will be waiting for the moment when Riddick gains his eyeshine ability.
Overall, this game really does deserve more attention, it is one class game. Great graphics engine, brilliant fight psyhics, amazing stealth play, even some RPG elements added in. Don't miss out.
PS. This game is available in most shops for £39.99, at Amazon for £26.99 - You do the maths.

Thrustmaster Xbox Memory Unit

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value for money, 1 May 2004
I was needing a memory card to transfer some game saves, free up some space. I had 2 choices, the official microsoft memory card or the thrustmaster memory card. I decided to risk it and go with the cheaper one. I decided that if it was bad, i would have only wasted a little money.
When it arrived, i wasn't dissappointed, it had a lot of options, including the transfer of data and naming the card.
Only bad side is though, 8Mb is not enough for a lot of games, so you may just be able to get 1 or 2 games onto it.
Overall, this is great value for money.

This controller really is brilliant. It fits snuggly into your hands and is just the right size. A lot of people think that Xbox controllers are terrible, and i would have to say that the original controller was to bulky, but this dinky little number really sorts out that problem.
I, at the moment, am in the transition phase from Sony PS2, to Microsoft's Xbox, and this controller makes it a lot easier, to change from PS2's tiny controllers to these.
A great little number...

Don't get me wrong, this is a great game, but it is definitely more suited to PC gaming...
Although, it does have some good points, you can play your mate through an i-link cable. Or you can see what would happen if the Scots had won the battle of Falkirk with William Wallace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant, 13 Feb. 2004
I was a bit hesitant at first to buy Ratchet and Clank 1, as the game seemed aimed at the younger crowd. I was very wrong. I soon became immersed in the depths of the Ratchet and Clank universe.
So, as soon as 'Locked and Loaded' came into the market, i had pre-ordered it. The game has amazing graphics. The music is great and the sounds are brilliant. The plot is very cool and has a bit more of a story behind it than the first one.
The weapons are so cool, ranging fron the bouncer to the Ryno II.
Overall, this is a great game which i really do recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Game!, 5 Feb. 2004
This is a great all round shoot-em-up game, but it lacks any stealth element.
The movie sequences are very cool and help to explain the plot in more detail than you see in 'the Matrix Reloaded'.
Unfortunately, you can only play as Ghost or Niobe.
The gameplay is smooth and the fight sequences are very well done indeed. The levels are very linear and do not take much time to complete.
There is no lack in weaponary, with guns ranging from the humble M16 to a ChloroBromoMethane gun(which is like a grenade launcher that causes anyone who is caught in the blast to suffocate).
Then there is also the hacking engine. This is quite easy to get into, as long as you have basic knowlege of computers. Through this you can hear messages from morpheos and trinity etc. You can also unlock secret levels and weapons such as a samurai sword.
Overall, this a very cool game which all sorts of age groups can get into, with its high speed and exiting firefights and fistfights with the agents, highly recomended...
