This is a short story and as a rule I'm not keen on short stories but I did enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent Trollope, 21 Jun. 2015

This review is from: Ralph The Heir (Kindle Edition)
Another excellent book from Trollope. There are quite long descriptions of the election process in a 'Rotten Borough' which was very interesting for me, but could possibly be boring for those not interested in politics, but they could be skipped over. It was a very basic plot - love triangles, debt, inheritance, and the 19th century election process. Trollope has such a way of character description it brings his characters to life, and brings reality to life in the 19th century.

The Zane Grey Megapack
The Zane Grey Megapack

4.0 out of 5 stars Jolly good adventures, each story, so far, very gripping., 11 Sept. 2014

This is a compilation of 48 books and I am working my way through them alternating them with other books, so it will take some time to get to the end.

There is a very good index.

The stories are about the untamed west of America and the first two are based on actions of his home area and his ancestors.

The third is based on a famous hunter, I looked him up on the internet.

It should be remembered that the action in these books takes place in a different time and when there were different values so some people may find the treatment of animals a little hard to take.

Dr Wortle's School (Chronicles of Barsetshire)
Dr Wortle's School (Chronicles of Barsetshire)
Price: £4.26

5.0 out of 5 stars Good story, facing the same questions as we have faced in our recent past., 11 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very good. Action takes place in England and America. It is about a man who marries a widow only to find that her former husband is still alive.
The tale is about the loyalty of a headmaster to stick up for his staff regardless of the consequences, will it ruin him in the process?

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for the faint hearted., 11 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have only read part of this book, I may go back to it, but possibly not!
It is not for anyone wanting a light read - it is very dreary and sad. I feel that I should persevere, and there might be some positive and happy part to it but we shall have to see.
I am quite sure that the life portrayed is accurate, which is what makes it so harrowing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth a read for anyone interested in this very astute leader of men., 11 Sept. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is very interesting and is written in two parts.

The first part is written very well and is fascinating, about Franklin's early life. The second part is written when he is much older and the style is different. It gives very good information of how the governance of the American people developed through very dramatic times but it is very difficult to related to the historical events of the time without having some knowledge of American history.
