5.0 out of 5 stars The Real King of the Cornet, 11 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Ask jazz fans who was the king of the cornet? and everyone immediately everyone mentions Louis Armstrong or Bix Beiderbecke. Forget them both, Muggsy Spanier was the best of the lot. This album is an absolute treat. Big Butter and Egg Man, Riverboat Shuffle, At Sundown and Dipper Mouth Blues are the outstanding numbers on what is an exemplary album. I haven't stopped playing it since I purchased it.

If you are a fan of ragtime/dixieland jazz, trust me this is one of the best purchases you will make

4.0 out of 5 stars The Man with the Golden Trumpet, 11 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For fans of 50s easy listening this will envoke many happy memories. Though it may sound a bit dated in parts to many modern listeners Eddie was a huge star in his time. His arrangements of many popular tunes of the day were a mainstay of the BBCs Light programme during my childhood. If like me you're into nostaligia, this will not disappoint. Buy it and take a trip down mwmory lane.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cranky Crane - Good Value, 9 Jan 2012
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This is a well constructed and robust toy for the money. Bought it for my 3 year old grandson's Christmas and he absolutely loves it. If it can stand up to the punishment of a 3 year old its well worth the money

5.0 out of 5 stars Barnaby Rudge - Dickens finest, 27 Dec 2010
As an ardent fan of Dickens,(surely the finest writer in the English language)I am aware that many would say that Great Expectations or David Copperfield were his greatest achievements. While they are both great works of literature, for me Barnaby Rudge was his greatest work. He is often described as "a painter with words", nowhere does this description apply more appropriately than in Barnaby Rudge. The characters are so real you can almost imagine yourself being there with them. It sweeps you along in an ever expanding plot which culminates in an explosive ending. Highly recommended for anyone new to the work of the undoubted master of English Literature and this Wordsworth Version is affordable with the added bonus of the original illustrations. If you need a comfort blanket of a book, this is it

Once in a Blue Moon
Once in a Blue Moon

4.0 out of 5 stars A Frankie Classic, 10 Mar 2010
This review is from: Once in a Blue Moon (MP3 Download)
This is a classic from Frankie's country period. Candlelight Sonata is a work of sublime greatness by anyone's standards, but Frankie also shows his versatility by performing what in my mind is one of the best covers of Dylan's Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues that I've heard (and that's saying something as there have been some brilliant covers done by the likes of Bryan Ferry and Springsteen).
Frankie finishes off in style with an excellent cover of Muddy water's I'm Ready. To sum up, there ain't no such thing as a bad Frankie Miller album, and this is one of his best.
