A cleverly written book that makes the reader question what he thinks he knows. Unsettling, with well drawn characters. Thoroughly recommend this parable of modern times.

I've read this book several times and never tired of it. Kaye's elegant writing and knowledge of India combine to produce a wonderful read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Carol Goodman in a new direction, 9 Feb 2014

I think I like it ... CG's books usually involve a fairy story or a myth of some kind. This time she steps in to the realm. The Fairwick Chronicles take a bit of getting used to.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely Bialetti, 9 Feb 2014

You can't beat Bialetti when it comes to coffee makes. There's something very comforting about the little man holding his finger up every time you make a cup of coffee!

5.0 out of 5 stars Carol Goodman doing what she does best, 9 Feb 2014

This review is from: The Night Villa (Kindle Edition)
I enjoyed the Night Villa a great deal - unusual in that most of it is set outside of the US. I read this after Arcadia Falls, and feel CG returned to her forte with this novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thoughts on Carol Goodman, 9 Feb 2014

This review is from: Arcadia Falls (Kindle Edition)
I've liked Carol's books for a long time, and this novel follows her usual format. However I thought the ending was rather rushed, as if she was already thinking about her next novel.

Foreign Bodies

5.0 out of 5 stars A witty, acerbic novel, 7 May 2007
This review is from: Foreign Bodies (Hardcover)
When I read Foreign Bodies for the first timeI found it hard to put down. Craig draws fine characterisations of ex-pats abroad, and she vividly describes Italy. I found it by turns amusing and well observed, with a neat little plot twist. I have read it several times since, and it retains its freshness. I've enjoyed all Ms. Craig's books. She manages to introduce threads of mysticism and makes them believable.

5.0 out of 5 stars An atmospheric story, 23 Sep 2006
Carol Goodman weaves several themes into this book. Latin, suicide, single parenthood, and she does it with skill and patience. She knows her stuff. The plot is not rushed, and although you know that somewhere a twist is lurking when it arrives it still surprises. I have read all Carol Goodman's books, and have yet to be disappointed.
