5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent XMAS specials!, 23 Oct. 2007
This review is from: Minder: The Specials [DVD] (DVD)
I am a huge fan of Minder, I own all ten series box-sets on DVD and these specials are a perfect addition to anyone's Minder collection. On the first disc we have Minder XMAS special which was aired on 26 December 1983, which features clips from the first three series of Minder put together with fifteen mintues of Arthur Terry & Dave in the Winchester remembering old times & the second XMAS special is Around the Corner which was aired on 26 December 1984 where Arthur is given a greyhound to cover a debt, while Terry spends time trying to try it and Arthur gets conned over some non-existant video recorders.

The second disc features An Officer & a Car Salesman which went out on 26 December 1988 and features guest stars Richard Briers (The Good Life & Ever Decreasing Circles), Diana Quick and this is also the last time Patrick Malahide appears in Minder as Chisholm, this time Terry has a spell in prison after being found in possession of some hooky videos that Arthur left in his flat, it looks as though their partnership is finished. Then Terry gets a job working for Caplan, an ex-army colonel who runs a survivalist school who Arthur is supplying army surplus equipment to, which reunites the pair when they stumble across a plot by Caplan and his men to rob a security van. The second is The Cruel Canal featuring Gary Webster as Arthur's nephew which was aired on the 26 December 1991, Arthur has a consignment of video recorders which he needs to deliver to a punter but his van packs up, so he borrows a canal boat to deliver them instead. I preferred the 1988 XMAS special to the Cruel Canal.

And the third disc contains the 1985 XMAS Special Minder On the Orient Express, where Terry saves a woman from being mugged and in return she gives Terry two tickets for the Orient Express, however the girl Terry rescued turns out to be the late Jack South's daughter Nikki and all his associates are on the train trying to get hold of Nikki's inheritance. I recommend this, if you like Minder, this is definitely worth buying!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spidey's back!, 23 Oct. 2007
Spider-Man 3 was a blockbuster hit over the summer, I went out and bought the DVD as soon as it was released, this time Peter Parker's got a perfect balance between his personal life and his Spiderman life until this horrible black slime takes over him and gives him tremendous abilities but also changes his alter-ego's personality making him act like a real jerk!

The only drawback is that this film relies too much on CGI blended with the live-action sequences, it was nice to see Topher Grace from That '70s Show playing the role of Eddie Brock/Venom & Thomas Haden Church was good too as Sandman. I recommend this film to anyone who's seen the other Spidey films and this one is a perfect addition to any Spiderman fan's set!

5.0 out of 5 stars The story continues!, 11 Oct. 2007
The fifth Harry Potter film was worth watching but it was darker than the others in the series, but nevertheless it won't deter me purchasing this when it arrives on DVD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Last in the trilogy!, 11 Oct. 2007
Pirates of the Carribean had good takings at the box office, and I'm disappointed that this is the last film I'll see Jack Sparrow in because without him the trilogy wouldn't be fun to watch. He gives comic relief and makes you laugh with the things he comes out with! I shall definitely be buying this on DVD when it comes out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best film of the summer!, 8 Oct. 2007
This review is from: Transformers (2007) [DVD] (DVD)
Transformers promised robots and lots of action, and god did it deliver! Shia LaBeouf & Megan Fox was fantastic in this film as the boy and girl who discover the Transformers & Jon Voight (Angelina Jolie's father) was well suited to the role of Defence Secretary John Keller. This is definiely one film I shall be getting once it arrives on DVD, don't miss it, you won't want to miss a thing!

3.0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons on the big screen!, 8 Oct. 2007
When I first saw this at the cinema, I had high expectations of this film to be amazing and as good as the episodes on TV & Sky. I found this film disappointing, even though there were some funny moments like Bart skateboarding through the park in the nude, Homer singing the Spider-Pig song, which had me in hysterics!

Personally what I saw in the film, the writers and team could've squeezed into a 20-minute episode, because lately all the other episodes have been poor to say the least. Rent or buy this film and judge for yourself!

3.0 out of 5 stars Fairly good sequel, but fails to exceed the first film!, 8 Oct. 2007
I went to see Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer at the cinema back in August and I admit it was a good film but not a classic, it did well at the box office I recall! Jessica Alba looked gorgeous with her hair down, Chris Evans was funny as ever as Johnny Storm, Michael Chiklis was amusing as the Thing who always tries to throttle Johnny, Ioan Gruffudd as Reed is on top form as is Julian McMahon who returns to his role as Dr Doom. Don't miss it, rent first before you buy!

1.0 out of 5 stars Great show, but a let down for its first outing on DVD, 8 Oct. 2007
Bergerac was a great show, it ran for 9 series between 1981-1991, the settings were perfect being Jersey and pictures of John Nettles are still used in Jersey today to promote the tourist trade.

I've watched the repeats of the show on UK-TV Drama in the afternoons, UK-TV Drama appears to show uncut episodes of Bergerac, that's what I learnt after watching Series 1 on DVD, I was disappointed and upset by the amount content removed by the BBC for the DVD release, this is typically BBC mentality whenever a show of theirs is released on DVD, it gets the royal hacking and trimming treatment.

The obvious edits were when the credits showed certain scenes that didn't appear in the episodes themselves on DVD, this is appalling! The DVD is now in the bin! 2 Entertain needs to get their act together and re-issue the first series unedited.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great show finally on DVD!, 8 Oct. 2007
The Real Ghostbusters was the coolest cartoon you could watch as a kid growing up in the 1980's, the episodes are very random. It's a shame season boxed sets haven't been issued yet, but I'll definitely be buying them once they become available.
