One of the funniest and sometimes saddest story I've had the pleasure to read in many a year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly entertaining, 16 April 2013

This was a wonderfully entertaining read. The story is based on events during one day in the life of The Bluebirds, a blues band who are trying to get their big break in the world of music, that is wrapped up in manufactured 'Pop Idols'. Their hope comes from a true 'Blues Man' straight from Texas "Coyote Jack". I don't want to give too much away, but the book unfolds each character, who you will form your very own relationship with. You will love, hate or empathise with each and every person who is involved in the story. I cannot recommend it enough!

Once you've read this, it will stay in your mind forever. I could not stop reading it and yet was aware that the more I read, the sooner the story would end. The story really touched me, emotionally as well as mentally. Read it, you won't regret it. Broke my heart at the end and will have to buy another copy before I re-read it co's print has gone!

I loved Ms Aherne's first book, but was a little disappointed with the second. Number 3 was wonderful. It's a wonderful read. Well done and keep it up.

Even better than Ravens Gate. A real page turner but unfortunately I now have to wait 9months before Nightrise is published. I hope Mr Horowitz can keep it up Please don't become commercial ............. dare to be different.

Borrowed book from daughter's friend. They were both enthusiastic about book so thought I would read it. It's a bloody good yarn and I rushed out to buy Evil Star and insisted that I read it before my daughter.

Wonderful read, even for a 'wrinkly' old mum!
