3.0 out of 5 stars Really great product, let down by a weak component part., 19 Aug 2011
The Easyclear 6000 pond pump solves blanket weed and green water issues in your pond with very little maintenance. As with all pond pumps the filter needs cleaning out occasionally, but other than that the system works really well. The price has dropped over the last few months so with abit of searching the Easyclear 6000 is available from 100. In comparison with the Easyclear 3000 pond pump, the 6000 version has a far superior filter system, so paying the extra 30 is worth it if possible.

However, the product falls down due the reliability of the plastic rotor, which is not included in the manufacturers 2 year guarantee. Consequently, when the rotor wears down, Hozelock customer services have a charge of over 20 to replace the plastic rotor. Additionally, delivery is not quick. This leaves your pond without a pond pump for the duration of the time it takes to have the rotor delivered and replaced.

If the rotor was covered by the guarantee, or the rotor was more durable, than this product would be a real winner. However, the rotors deficiency can leave you feeling short changed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing product, 19 Aug 2011
I was really pleased with this product when it arrived. It was easy to install & it cleared my small pond of green water over two days. However, I have had to change the UV bulb now three times within 8 months & the filter has to be taken apart to clear the propeller shaft on a regular basis. Overall, the product is lower priced than the alternative Hozelock EasyClear, but is far, far higher maintenance.Hozelock Easyclear 2000

4.0 out of 5 stars The only darts case you will ever need., 2 April 2009
This review is from: Guinness Maxi Wallet (Sports)
This quirky and functional Guinness case is a make-over of the popular Unicorn Maxi Darts Wallet. This attractive and functional product brought through Amazon for 7.99 represented the best retail price that I could find in comparison with other web-sites. The case is robust, smart and has ample storage capacity to compartmentalise darts accessories. Darts can comfortably be stored with flights still attached, which was the main practical requirement for me. However for the occasional player, such as myself, the case offers almost too much storage capacity to the point of becoming slightly bulky. For the regular player with lots of kit, this case is all that you will ever need. For darts enthusiasts with an average amount of kit, the more compact Unicorn Midi Darts wallet perhaps represents a better buy. However, the Midi wallet, which can still store darts with flights attached, is not available in the Guinness version.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Top Quailty Action Figure In This Series., 18 Mar 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
The quality and likeness of the judoon Captain action figure is of the highest standard. The model is robust, the accessories detailed and the likeness of the characters features are first class.

2.0 out of 5 stars Below Parr action figure in the series., 18 Mar 2009
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
The likeness, characterisation and quality of the Astrid model is a disappointment in comparison with the usual high standard of the other action figures in this series. The articulation of the joints and overall durability of the figure is good, but the model is unable to stand without toppling over and the likeness of the figure is barely recognisable as Kylie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality Characterisation, questionable durability., 18 Mar 2009
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
The characterisation and likeness of the Sontaran Commander figure is very good. However, the weapon falls out of models hand easily and the helmet constantly drops off. A well designed update of this classic Dr Who enemy, let down by the durability of the figure.

Joe Royle: The Autobiography
Joe Royle: The Autobiography
by Joe Royle
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars Royle Blue Review., 13 Mar 2009
When interviewed on television, Joe Royle constantly comes across as a knowledgeable football pundit and a gentleman with a likable sense of dry humour. This commendable book displays all of these qualities. As an Evertonian, Joe will always be regarded as a double hero, a championship winning player and an FA Cup winning manager. However, unlike many footballing autobiographies, the appeal of this book will not be restricted to fans of one particular team. Joe is rightly regarded as a hero by fans of Everton, Oldham, Ipswich and possibly even Manchester City. Joe gives an honest and frank account of the people and situations that shaped his illustrious playing career with England, Everton, Man City, Bristol City and Norwich City. However, despite these playing achievements, the book is at its most impressive when covering Joe's remarkable managerial career. Working within tight budgetary constraints Joe Royle's achievements as a football manager at times defy belief. The book, like the man himself, punches well above it's weight.

4.0 out of 5 stars ''If You Know Your History'', 17 Feb 2009
This DVD is especially recommended for Evertonians or football historians that may not have viewed the 1988 `Official History Of Everton FC' video. For those familiar with this video, this DVD update is identical up to 1988 and provides an add-on from 1989 to 2008. Despite the lack of additional new historical footage, the DVD provides an informative and technically modernised update of the original. For the many occasions when Evertonian's may question why they sustain an infatuation with a club that frequently delivers far more angst and heart ache than glory, this DVD underpins the reasons why this blue obsession is totally unbreakable.Everton - The Official History Of Everton FC [1988]

Gray Matters

5.0 out of 5 stars A real page turner, compulsive reading., 17 Feb 2009
This review is from: Gray Matters (Hardcover)
This highly recommended autobiography is written in an upbeat style, full of humour and biting personal opinion. The book covers Andy Gray's entertaining life before, during and after football and dodges none of the issues or situations (on and off the pitch) along the way. The book comprehensively covers Gray's playing career with Scotland, Everton, Dundee Utd, Rangers, Wolves and Aston Villa. Stories and incidents highlight Gray's natural leadership qualities and the emotive issue of Gray's sale by Howard Kendall (making way for Gary Lineker) is handled in an open and honest way. The book does not engage Gray's Sky Sports style impartial analytical skills in a critique of the football tactics of the teams that he played for and against. However, this makes the book all the more interesting, focusing as it does upon his personal opinion and experiences. From the perspective of a biased Evertonian, this book is rivalled only by Graeme Sharps autobiography in the compulsive page turning stakes.

Only the Best is Good Enough: Howard Kendall Story
Only the Best is Good Enough: Howard Kendall Story

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading, but needs updating., 3 Feb 2009
This book represented a really enjoyable and nostalgic look back on the glittering career of Howard Kendall. From an Evertonian perspective the book generated a range of emotions from pride to frustration. From a wider football perspective the book provided an interesting insight into Kendall's short but turbulent career as Manchester City Manager; also focusing upon the challenges of managing Athletic Bilbao under the restraints of a Basque only policy.
The book is written in a punchy style with no shortage of humour and Howard Kendall is not slow to generate a laugh for the reader at his own expense, for example the episode were he fell of his seat twice during the same game. However, the book ends on a hopeful and optimistic note, just as Kendall was resurrecting his Managers role with Everton in 1990. History shows that this optimism was unfortunately not to be matched by success on the pitch. The reader is left wanting the book to be updated to cover the later stages of Howard's career.
